Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Alex Rios finished 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI, while Travis Snider knocked in the winning run as Toronto rallied from a six-run deficit to clip Baltimore, 8-7, in the second of three from Rogers Centre.
Scott Rolen picked up three hits, scored twice and drove in a run for the Blue Jays, who halted a three-game losing skid. Joe Inglett and Marco Scutaro added an RBI each.
"We're trying to finish strong. We're doing a good job of it. We were down early but we didn't panic, we just did it. We did what we know how to do, and it came out good."
Jesse Carlson (7-1) earned the win after getting the final out in the eighth. B.J. Ryan hurled a scoreless ninth for his 30th save. Starter David Purcey lasted five inning and allowed 11 hits and six runs.
Aubrey Huff collected two hits including a two-run home run for the Orioles, who saw their two-game win streak snapped and have dropped three of their last five. Melvin Mora had two hits, two RBI and scored once.
Kam Mickolio (0-1) took the loss, charged with two hits and a run over one relief inning. Brian Bass, in only his second major-league start, gave up seven hits and five runs over 4 1/3 innings.
"I had a lot of chances, a ground ball here, one there, instead of giving up balls in the gap," said Bass. "It came down to me not making pitches when I needed to."
After seeing the visitors post five runs in their fifth inning at-bat to take a 6-0 advantage, Toronto finally got on the board in the home half.
Lyle Overbay led off with a single and scored on Rolen's triple. Gregg Zaun was hit by a pitch, then Snider drove in the second run with a base hit. Inglett reached on a fielder's choice which left runners at the corners and Scutaro's single scored Zaun. Lance Cormier came on to allow a double from Rios which plated Inglett and Scutaro for a 6-5 game.
Inglett's RBI single in the sixth pulled the Jays even, and Rios' leadoff shot against Rocky Cherry in the seventh gave the home team a 7-6 lead.
Oscar Salazar doubled with one out in the seventh, and Luke Scott's pinch-hit run-scoring single created another deadlock.
The Jays completed their comeback with a run in the eighth. Rolen led off with a double, moved to third on Curtis Thigpen's sacrifice bunt and scored when Snider lifted a sacrifice fly to left.
Ryan closed out the game by retiring Mora on a grounder, Huff on a fly out to center and fanning Ramon Hernandez swinging.
Mora's double-play groundout in the first put Baltimore on the board.
The Orioles tacked on five more in the fifth -- all with no outs -- on a Markakis RBI ground-rule double, Mora's two-run single and Huff's two-run homer.
