Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Jorge Cantu and Hanley Ramirez each hit a two- run home run as the Florida Marlins downed the Washington Nationals, 4-2, in the second of a three-game set at Dolphin Stadium.
Josh Johnson (5-1) got the win as he gave up just two runs on six hits with a walk and a career-high nine strikeouts for the Marlins, who have won four straight.
Ramirez, who hit his 30th home run of the season in the game, is the third Marlin infielder to reach the 30-home run plateau this season, joining Dan Uggla (30) and Mike Jacobs (32). The only other team to accomplish that feat was the Oakland Athletics in 2001.
"I'm happy for them," said Ramirez. "Last year they made fun of me because I missed it. This year, I guess all my dreams came true. I don't want to put any pressure on Cantu. He's been doing great so I think he's going to do it."
Elijah Dukes drove in both runs while Tim Redding (10-9) got the loss for giving up four runs on five hits in six innings of work for the Nationals, who have dropped their last four games.
"I'm upset about two pitches in the first and second inning, there, the two home run pitches, obviously," said Redding. "Other than that, I'm glad I was able to battle through another four innings. It's just a tough loss. It's another one of those games, with a couple pitches here and there, we're winning instead of losing."
Florida got on the board in the first inning as John Baker worked a one-out walk and Cantu followed with a shot into the left field stands for a 2-0 advantage.
The Marlins added two more in the second. Alfredo Amezaga led off with a single and moved to second on Johnson's sacrifice bunt. Ramirez then smoked a pitch into the second deck of the left field bleachers for a 4-0 advantage.
The Nationals cut their deficit in half in the sixth. With two outs, Ryan Zimmerman kept the inning alive with a single and Lastings Milledge followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Dukes then blasted a double off the scoreboard in left field to chase home both runners and make it a 4-2 game.
Logan Kensing retired the Nationals in order in the seventh while Arthur Rhodes and Kevin Gregg combined to throw a 1-2-3 eighth.
Matt Lindstrom gave up a walk to start the ninth, but then induced a double play and a fly out to end the game and pick up his fourth save of the season.
