National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at Philadelphia

Final Score: Milwaukee 3 - Philadelphia 7

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jimmy Rollins collected three hits and drove in two runs and Cole Hamels threw into the seventh inning, as Philadelphia topped Milwaukee, 7-3, to pick up ground in the playoff hunt.

Hamels (13-9) gave up two runs on six hits and three walks in 6 1/3 frames for the Phillies, who moved to two games back of the NL wild card-leading Brewers with the win. Philadelphia is also 2 1/2 games back of the Mets in the NL East, after New York split a doubleheader with Atlanta on Saturday.

Rollins singled, doubled and homered, while Chase Utley finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Ryan Howard drove in a pair for Philadelphia, which resumed this four-game series after a rain-out on Friday. The Phillies have won both games so far heading into a doubleheader on Sunday.

Milwaukee starter Manny Parra (10-8) was touched for five runs on seven hits and three walks in just 1 1/3 innings to absorb the loss. The Brewers have seen their lead in the wild card standings be whittled down as they have lost five of the past six games. Not only is Philadelphia two games back, but Houston is just 2 1/2 games behind.

Jason Kendall had a two-run double for Milwaukee, which also now trails Chicago by six games in the NL Central. The Cubs-Astros game on Saturday had previously been cancelled.

The Phillies jumped on top thanks to a three-run first inning. After Rollins singled, Utley smacked a run-scoring double to right field and went to third on a throwing error. Jayson Werth followed with a single to plate Utley, then advanced to second on a wild pitch.

A walk to Howard and Pat Burrell strikeout preceded a Shane Victorino single that brought in Werth for a 3-0 edge.

In the second, Philadelphia loaded the bases with a Rollins double, Utley infield single and Werth walk. Howard then plated two runs with a single to center to make it a 5-0 game.

Hamels had to navigate out of a few dangerous situations, but managed to keep the Brewers off the scoreboard until the fourth inning. Mike Cameron worked a two-out walk and Bill Hall singled.

Kendall then reached out and poked a low pitch to left field, and the trajectory was misjudged by Burrell, who ran too far in to make the catch. Two runs scored as Milwaukee pulled within 5-2.

But the Phillies got the runs back in the sixth when Rollins drilled a pitch to the right field stands with Pedro Feliz on base.

Ryan Braun crushed a solo homer off Chad Durbin in the eighth inning to bring the Brewers within 7-3, but Milwaukee got no closer.
