Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Ian Snell threw six innings and the Pittsburgh Pirates snapped a 10-game skid with a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
The Pirates, who posted their first win since Aug. 19 at St. Louis, got consecutive homers from Brandon Moss and Andy LaRoche. Moss went 3-for-4, accounting for most of the offense for the Pirates, who ended with seven hits.
Snell (6-10) allowed seven hits and two runs -- one earned -- while logging five strikeouts against two walks. Matt Capps pitched the ninth inning for his 18th save.
Aaron Harang (4-15) surrendered five hits and three runs over six innings to lose for the sixth time in seven decisions.
Chris Dickerson homered in a losing effort. His lead-off shot in the opening inning gave the Reds the early lead, but Moss and LaRoche went deep in the second before Corey Patterson singled in Jay Bruce in the bottom half to tie the game.
Snell walked and Nyjer Morgan doubled to right-center to begin the third. Nate McLouth's groundout drove in Snell, who then escaped trouble in the fourth. The Reds had runners at the corners, but Harang fanned to end the threat.
Cincinnati had a similar situation in the sixth, but Patterson struck out and pinch-hitter Wilkin Castillo fouled out to finish the inning.
Dickerson walked to start the seventh, but was picked off, and after John Grabow retired the side in order in the eighth, Capps did the same in the ninth.
