National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at San Diego

Final Score: Milwaukee 2 - San Diego 3

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Jake Peavy tossed seven strong innings to lead the San Diego Padres over the Brewers, 3-2, to stop Milwaukee's winning streak at eight games.

Peavy (9-8) halted a personal two-game slide after striking out eight, while yielding only four hits and three walks.

Brian Myrow drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh for the Padres, who avoided the three-game sweep and have won three of their last five.

Mike Cameron homered and finished with two hits and two RBI for the Brewers.

Ben Sheets (11-6) took a one-hit shutout into the seventh, but suffered the defeat after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings. The righty surrendered five hits and two walks, while striking out four as he fell to 0-2 in four lifetime starts versus the Padres.

"It is always fun when you compete against someone like Ben Sheets," said Peavy. "He is as good as anyone in the game."

The Padres trailed 1-0, but posted three runs on five hits in the seventh inning and they held on for the victory. Kevin Kouzmanoff led off with a single and moved to third when Chase Headley followed with a double to right. Tadahito Iguchi drove in Kouzmanoff with single to left and after Iguchi moved to second on a wild pitch by Sheets, Headley raced home via a sacrifice fly by the pinch-hitter Myrow. Then with two outs, Jody Gerut plated Iguchi with a base hit to right.

Trevor Hoffman gave up a solo homer to Cameron in the ninth to cut the deficit to 3-2, but settled down to post his 26th save of the season in his one inning of work.

The Brewers broke up a scoreless game in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Cameron. Bill Hall came around on the one-out hit after he drew a walk and moved to second on a throwing error by Peavy.
