Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Ubaldo Jimenez hurled seven innings of shutout ball, and Brad Hawpe and Chris Iannetta each drove in a pair of runs as Colorado downed Florida, 5-2, in the second test of a four-game set at Dolphin Stadium.
Jimenez (8-9), who has won six of his last seven starts, walked three and struck out 10 for the Rockies, who won for the second time in three games. Matt Holliday was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Josh Willingham and Mike Jacobs had an RBI apiece for the Marlins, who lost for the first time in three games.
Chris Volstad (2-2) allowed five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits in five innings while walking three and punching out six en route to the loss.
The Rockies jumped on top with a pair of runs in the third. Willy Taveras started things by getting on with a one-out bunt single. Holliday kept the inning going with a two-out infield single and, on the play, Hanley Ramirez threw the ball away and allowed Taveras to advance to third. Holliday then swiped second and Hawpe followed with a two-run single.
Colorado added three more runs in the fifth. Troy Tulowitzki opened the frame with a single to right and was quickly chased to third on Holliday's double. Volstad settled down a bit from there and fanned Hawpe before getting Garrett Atkins on a fly ball to left.
Volstad then fell apart, however. After intentionally walking Ian Stewart to load the bases, Iannetta slapped a two-run single up the middle and Omar Quintanilla followed with another RBI single to make it a 5-0 game.
The Marlins finally broke through off Taylor Buchholz in the ninth. Jeremy Hermida reached first on a Tulowitzki throwing error and Jorge Cantu followed with a double to center to put runners at second and third. Willingham came through with an RBI single to left to spoil the shutout.
Colorado manager Clint Hurdle had seen enough at that point and called for Brian Fuentes, who fanned Dan Uggla before giving up a sacrifice fly to Jacobs. Cody Ross then popped up to second to end the game.
Fuentes earned his 19th save.
