National League Game Summary - Washington at Florida

Final Score: Washington 2 - Florida 4

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Alfredo Amezaga blasted a two-run go-ahead homer in the seventh inning for the Florida Marlins in a 4-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday to take the rain-soaked rubber match of a three-game series.

Florida's Ricky Nolasco (9-4) went seven innings, yielding two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts.

"When things are rolling it's a good feeling but you just got to stay focused, on a level plane, otherwise it will come back and bite you real quick," Nolasco said.

Kevin Gregg pitched a perfect ninth with a strikeout to earn his 15th save.

Hanley Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored while Amezaga finished 1-for-3 for the Marlins, who have won three of their last four games.

Odalis Perez began with three perfect innings for the Nationals and lasted 6 2/3 innings before a 95-minute rain delay. He gave up two runs on five hits while striking out three for Washington, which has lost three of its last five.

"I felt I was pitching well but then the rain came down and I had to be pulled out of the game," Perez said. "I felt good for six and two-thirds innings, (giving up just) two runs, pretty good."

Charlie Manning (0-2) suffered the loss allowing one run and two hits including Amezaga's homer without recording an out.

After the delay, Amezaga greeted reliever Manning with a blast over the wall in left, his second homer, scoring Cody Ross, who hit a one-out single before the delay.

One inning later the Marlins added an insurance run on a Wes Helms sacrifice fly. Jorge Cantu and Josh Willingham hit back-to-back one-out singles to put men on the corners for Helms, whose fly ball to the warning track in center was caught by a diving Roger Bernadina.

Paul Lo Duca hit a two-run single in the second to put the Nationals ahead early. Aaron Boone was hit by a pitch to open the inning and Ronnie Belliard followed with a double to put men in scoring position. After a Jesus Flores strikeout, Lo Duca struck with his base hit to center scoring Boone and Belliard.

Ramirez, who was named the National League Player of the Month for June on Wednesday, hit a one-out double in the sixth, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Robert Andino single one batter later.
