Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Seth McClung was solid on the mound and Corey Hart hit a two-run homer, as the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Baltimore Orioles, 3-2, in the middle installment of their three-game interleague series.
Gabe Kapler was 2-for-3 with walk for the Brewers, who have won five of their last six games. Prince Fielder knocked in the other run for Milwaukee, while Craig Counsell finished 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored.
McClung (5-3) gave up two runs on three hits with five walks and a season-high six strikeouts over a season-high 6 2/3 innings.
Oscar Salazar clubbed a two-run homer for the Orioles, who snapped a four-game winning streak. Baltimore generated only four hits, including doubles by Brian Roberts and Melvin Mora.
Daniel Cabrera (5-3) went six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits to absorb the loss. He also fanned a season-high eight batters and walked three.
The Brewers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first. Back-to-back singles by Counsell and J.J. Hardy to start the frame put runners on the corners and a groundout by Fielder plated a run.
With two gone in the third, Fielder singled to prolong the inning and Hart followed with a shot to the seats in left field for a 3-0 lead.
Luke Scott drew a lead-off walk in the fifth and Ramon Hernandez found a hole on the left side of the infield for Baltimore's first hit of the game. A groundout by Adam Jones put runners on second and third, but McClung fanned pinch-hitter Alex Cintron and Cabrera to end the inning.
A two-out, pinch-hit blast by Salazar made it a 3-2 game in the top of the seventh. McClung issued a one-out walk to Jones and, after Cintron grounded out, Salazar sent a hanging breaking ball over the left field wall.
"When you come off the bench, you have to take the best pitch and be patient," Salazar said. "I tried to drive it. He gave me two sliders and then he made the mistake with the curveball."
After Roberts worked a walk, Brian Shouse took over the mound duties and Nick Markakis grounded out to finish the frame.
"Outside of that one curveball to Salazar, he (McClung) had 6 2/3 solid innings," Milwaukee manager Ned Yost said.
Shouse retired the O's in order in the eighth and Salomon Torres worked around a two-out, pinch-hit double by Mora in the ninth to nail down his 11th save of the season.
