MLB Game Summary - Pittsburgh at Baltimore

Final Score: Pittsburgh 5 - Baltimore 4

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Adam LaRoche's run-scoring single in the top of the 10th inning lifted Pittsburgh over Baltimore, 5-4, in the finale of a three-game set at Camden Yards.

After the Orioles evened things with a dramatic two-out, two-run home run by Brian Roberts off Matt Capps in the ninth, the Pirates bounced right back in the 10th.

George Sherrill (2-2) walked Jason Bay and Ryan Doumit quickly followed with a single, putting runners on the corners. After Jason Michaels struck out swinging, LaRoche laced, what proved to be the game-winner, to right.

The O's had seen enough of Sherrill at that point and went to Lance Cormier, who managed to wiggle out of any further trouble. But, the Baltimore offense couldn't respond again and Capps (1-2) worked a 1-2-3 10th to finally secure things.

Nate McLouth belted a home run and Michaels added a two-run single for the Pirates, who have won three of their last five games. Bay finished 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored.

Paul Maholm started on the hill for Pittsburgh and surrendered two runs on just four hits in six-plus innings.

Guillermo Quiroz and Aubrey Huff also homered for the Orioles, who won the first two games in the series.

Daniel Cabrera allowed four runs on six hits and five walks in six innings on the hill.

The Pirates jumped on top in the third with a three-run frame. With one down McLouth started things by crushing a Cabrera offering over the wall in right- center for his 15th homer of the season. After Freddy Sanchez struck out swinging, Bay walked and Cabrera plunked Doumit. After a wild pitch advanced both runners into scoring position, Michaels slapped a two-run single up the middle to make it a 3-0 game.

Pittsburgh added another run in the fifth when Bay opened the frame with a single, swiped second with two down and came around to score when Jose Bautista singled to left.

The O's finally got to Maholm in the home-half of the fifth when Quiroz led off the frame with his second homer of the season.

Baltimore creeped closer in the sixth after Huff ripped a two-out solo homer over the fence in right, his ninth of the year.

The Orioles finally deadlocked things with Roberts' dramatic two-out, two-run home run off Capps in the ninth. After Oscar Salazar reached on a Bautista error, Capps settled down to get to get a pair of pinch hitters, Luke Scott and Ramon Hernandez. But, Roberts took the reliever the other way and just cleared the wall in left to make it a 4-4 game.
