Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Johnny Damon collected his third four-hit game of the year, going 4-for-6, and Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a three- run home run, as the New York Yankees crushed the Houston Astros, 13-0, to complete the three-game sweep and win back-to-back series on the road for the first time this season.
Jorge Posada was 2-for-2 with a two-run homer for the Yankees, who have won four in a row. Derek Jeter finished with two runs batted in and Robinson Cano had three.
Chien-Ming Wang (8-2) got the win as he gave up just six hits while fanning three in five frames before leaving in the sixth with a foot injury suffered while running the bases.
Roy Oswalt (5-7) took the loss as he was roughed up for seven runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings of work while fanning six and walking four. Oswalt did manage two hits, though. Michael Bourn also finished with two hits for the Astros, who have dropped 14 of their last 17.
The Yankees started a late rally in the third as Hideki Matsui laced a two-out double to the gap in left field, Rodriguez worked a four-pitch walk and Jason Giambi also finagled a base on balls.
Then, on the payoff pitch, Posada held his swing and earned an RBI walk. Cano followed with a bloop single that dropped just inside the left field line to plate a pair of runs. Melky Cabrera went down looking at the third strike to end the threat, but the damage had been done, as New York led 3-0.
The Yanks blew the game wide open in the sixth. Posada and Cano led off the frame with singles before Cabrera flied out to left. Wang then bunted into a fielder's choice, leaving runners on first and second, and Damon followed with a single that loaded the bases. Jeter kept it going with a two-run single and Oswalt was yanked in favor of Wesley Wright.
On Jeter's single, as Wang was rounding third, he started limping as he was about halfway to home plate. After he crossed home, he was doubled over in pain and had to be helped off the field. The injury is to the right-hander's right foot.
Matsui added an RBI single and Rodriguez cleared the table with a three-run homer to left field. Giambi was hit by a pitch and Posada made Houston pay, as he deposited a Wright fastball over the fence in left-center for an 11-0 Yankees cushion.
The Yankees made it 13-0 in the eighth. Rodriguez hit a one-out single and pinch-hitting Chad Moeller put runners at second and third with a double. Posada walked to load the bases, Cano drew a free pass to plate Rodriguez, and Cabrera followed with an RBI ground out.
Dan Giese took the mound for the Yanks in the ninth and got Mark Loretta to fly out. Bourn blooped a single to shallow center, but Brad Ausmus popped up for the second out. Reggie Abercrombie went down swinging to make it official.
