Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - A.J. Pierzynski drove in the game-winner in the seventh as the Chicago White Sox rallied for a 5-4 win over the Colorado Rockies in the opener of a three-game interleague set at U.S. Cellular Field.
Juan Uribe drove in a pair of runs while Orlando Cabrera and Brian Anderson each hit solo home runs for the White Sox, who snapped a three-game slide.
Matt Thornton (3-1) got the win for getting the final two outs of the seventh while Gavin Floyd have up four runs, all solo home runs, on four hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.
Ian Stewart had two solo homers while Brad Hawpe and Willy Taveras each had solo shots for the Rockies, who have dropped their past two games. Jeff Francis was charged with four runs on five hits in six-plus innings of work while Matt Herges (2-3) was charged with the loss.
Trailing by two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the White Sox took the lead in the frame.
Jermaine Dye led off with a single and Nick Swisher followed with a walk to chase Francis from the game. Herges took the mound and walked Joe Crede to load the bases. After Anderson struck out, Uribe punched a single to center to score Dye and Swisher. Cabrera then hit into a fielder's choice that got Crede out at third, but Uribe then moved to third on a wild pitch and Pierzynski followed with an infield single that scored Uribe for a 5-4 lead.
Scott Linebrink then retired the Rockies in order in the eighth and Bobby Jenks worked around a two-out base hit in the ninth to pick up his 16th save of the season.
The Rockies grabbed the lead in the third inning as Stewart hit a one-out, solo home run to right.
However, Chicago tied the game in the fourth on Cabrera's leadoff shot past the left field fence.
The White Sox then took the lead in the fifth courtesy of a solo homer from Anderson with two outs.
The solo home runs continued in the sixth as Colorado got single shots from Stewart and Taveras for a 3-2 advantage.
Colorado got another solo home run in the seventh as Hawpe led off the frame with a blast over the center field wall for a 4-2 lead.
