National League Game Summary - Philadelphia at Florida

Final Score: Philadelphia 2 - Florida 6

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Dan Uggla belted a monstrous game-ending grand slam in the ninth inning, handing the Florida Marlins a 6-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the second of a three-game set.

Uggla's homer made a winner of Kevin Gregg (5-2), who blew the save in the top of the ninth. Jorge Cantu hit two solo homers for Florida, which has won four of five to pull within two games of the Phillies for first place in the National League East.

Both starters, Andrew Miller for the Marlins and Philadelphia's Cole Hamels, pitched brilliantly to no-decisions. Miller held the Phils to four hits and one run in seven-plus innings, striking out seven. Hamels fanned a season-high 13 in eight frames and gave up only three hits, but two of them were solo homers by Cantu.

Chase Utley knocked in both runs for Philadelphia, which had won four straight prior to this series in Florida.

The Phillies twice battled back from one-run deficits, including scoring once in the ninth to tie the game. But Tom Gordon (5-3) couldn't find the strike zone in the bottom of the inning, giving up Uggla's slam to take the loss.

Gordon walked Hanley Ramirez, Cantu singled to left with one down, and then Gordon walked Wes Helms to load the bases. With a 3-1 count, Uggla looked for a fastball and he got one. The Marlins second baseman sent it deep into the stands in left for the game-winning homer.

"I tried to keep the ball down and away," Gordon said. "(With) Uggla, I definitely didn't want to give up a home run in that situation. (My) fastball tonight, (it) just was not in the zone at all."

Trailing 2-1 entering the ninth, the Phillies had rallied to tie it against Gregg. Pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs reached on an infield single, and Jimmy Rollins walked. Pinch-runner Eric Bruntlett stole third with Shane Victorino at the plate, but Victorino struck out. Utley grounded to second, but Ramirez couldn't turn the double play, and Utley easily beat the throw.

The fielder's choice grounder allowed Bruntlett to score the tying run. Gregg intentionally walked Ryan Howard and beaned Pat Burrell to load the bases for Jayson Werth, who curiously tried to bunt for a base hit with two outs. Werth bunted right back to Gregg, who easily threw him out to keep the game tied.

Uggla untied it in the home half of the ninth, however, with his second career grand slam.

Cantu's solo homer to left with two outs in the first staked Miller to an early lead.

"Everything's going great right now, because I'm very confident at the plate," Cantu said. "Just recognizing the pitch and hitting it. That's just (it), as a hitter. When you're going good, just keep doing it."

Philadelphia finally got to Miller in the seventh, when Victorino lined a one-out double off the base of the wall in left-center, and Utley followed with a line drive single to center, tying the game at 1-1.

After the Phillies battled back to tie it, Hamels couldn't keep it even in the home half. Cantu's one-out homer to left, his 14th of the season, put the Marlins up 2-1.
