American League Game Summary - Minnesota at Chicago

Final Score: Minnesota 2 - Chicago WSox 12

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Nick Swisher went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer to finish with four runs batted in, as the Chicago White Sox crushed the Minnesota Twins, 12-2, in the third portion of a four-game set.

Alexei Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and drove in three runs for the White Sox, who have rattled off six victories in a row. Chicago has outscored Minnesota, 33-10 thus far in the series and increased its lead over the second-place Twins to 5 1/2 games in the AL Central.

Joe Crede and Paul Konerko each had two hits and two RBI in the win. Crede has been on a tear in this series, going 8-for-12 with four homers and 10 RBI.

Gavin Floyd (7-3) earned the win as he threw seven innings and gave up two runs on six hits while fanning nine batters.

Jason Kubel had a solo home run for the Twins, who have dropped four in a row. Justin Morneau had the other RBI for Minnesota.

Kevin Slowey (2-6) was charged with the loss as he was roughed up for eight runs on 10 hits in just three frames.

The start of the game was delayed 1 1/2 hours by rain. Minnesota scored first. Carlos Gomez led the game off with a single and Brendan Harris followed with a double. Joe Mauer and Morneau were retired, but Gomez came home on Morneau's groundout.

However, the White Sox scored three times in the second and added five more in the third to make it a rout early. Konerko hit a ground-rule double to right and Jim Thome followed with a walk in the second. After Jermaine Dye was caught looking at the third strike, Swisher put the Sox up 3-1 as he deposited a 2-2 changeup over the fence in right field.

"This is exactly what we are waiting for," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "The players now have belief in their ability to score runs. Hopefully we can keep this going for an extended period of time."

Chicago broke the game open, 8-1, in the third. A.J. Pierzynski singled to lead off and Carlos Quentin followed with a double. Konerko then blasted a two-run double to right. Thome went down swinging for the first out, but Dye followed with an RBI single. Swisher fanned as Dye took second base. Crede belted an RBI double and Ramirez kept the rally going with an RBI single.

The White Sox added some more insurance in the fifth off Juan Rincon. Dye led off with a double and Swisher followed with an RBI double. Crede then brought Swisher around with a single, before Ramirez cleared the bases with a homer to right, as Chicago went up 12-1.

"Right now, they're hitting everything that we're throwing up there," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "They are killing us."

Kubel opened the seventh inning with a homer to right.
