National League Game Summary - Cincinnati at Florida

Final Score: Cincinnati 7 - Florida 8

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Cody Ross' two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Florida Marlins a dramatic 8-7 victory over the Cincinnati Reds in the second contest of a four-game series.

Luis Gonzalez and Jorge Cantu each homered for the Marlins, who had lost five of their last six games. Ross and Gonzalez each plated three runs in victory.

Burke Badenhop (2-3) earned the win after getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth and pitching a scoreless ninth. Starter Scott Olsen went six innings, allowing four unearned runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

Francisco Cordero (2-1) took the loss after allowing three runs in the ninth inning. Adam Dunn homered for the Reds and Andy Phillips recorded three RBI, as Cincy has alternated wins and losses in the past five games.

Reds starter Bronson Arroyo was credited with a no-decision after striking out six and allowing four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Ken Griffey Jr. remains one home run away from becoming the sixth player in league history to hit 600 career home runs. The perennial All-Star went 1- for-3 with a run scored and two walks.

Cordero has a bad history with Ross, allowing a three-run, game-tying home run to the center fielder back on May 14. The Reds won that game in extra innings, but Cincinnati would not have the same fate on Saturday.

Trailing 7-5 in ninth, Cantu laced a leadoff double and Dan Uggla worked a walk one out later. With runners on the corners, Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly to left to set the stage for Ross, who took an 0-1 fastball over the right-center field wall for the Marlins' third walkoff homer of the season.

In the second, Gonzalez doubled past a diving Joey Votto at first to knock in a run and Olsen helped his cause two outs later with an RBI single up the middle.

Gonzalez added to the Marlins' 2-0 lead with his fifth home run of the season to open the fourth frame. Cantu, who connected on two homers in the series opener, contributed a solo blast in the fifth, a moonshot down the left field line.

Olsen needed just 52 pitches to work through five innings of one-hit ball, but the youngster couldn't overcome a pair of defensive miscues in the sixth.

With two outs and runners on the corners, Brandon Phillips laced a quick one- hopper to Cantu and the third baseman couldn't handle the backhander to bring in a run. Wes Helms followed with another error at first to load the bases, and Andy Phillips placed a bases-clearing double down the left field line to tie the game 4-4.

In the home seventh, Uggla worked a one-out walk and moved to third on Gonzalez's groundout and Votto's throwing error. Ross came to the plate and singled to left to score Uggla for the go-ahead run.

Logan Kensing couldn't hold onto the lead, as Dunn brought the run right back by slamming his 16th homer of the season to lead off the eighth. Javier Valentin appeared to end the frame several batters later, but a wild pitch on the third strike allowed the pinch-hitter to reach first.

After a Paul Bako single, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Jay Bruce recorded back-to- back run-scoring singles for a two-run cushion.
