Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Jose Castillo's three-run home run was the big blow in a seven-run third inning, as San Francisco ripped Washington, 10-1, in the opener of a four-game set from Nationals Park.
Fred Lewis knocked in two runs and scored twice for the Giants, who won for the third time in the last five outings. Ray Durham added three hits, an RBI and a run scored, while John Bowker and Bengie Molina each collected two hits and a run knocked in.
Tim Lincecum (8-1) allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five without a walk to record his fourth consecutive victory. Lincecum has not lost in his last seven starts, since an April 29 setback against Colorado.
Elijah Dukes knocked in the lone run for the Nationals, losers in five of their last six. Washington starter Jason Bergmann (1-3) was rocked in defeat, giving up 10 hits and eight runs -- five earned -- in just three innings.
The visitors wrapped up the game with seven runs in their second turn at the plate.
Randy Winn and Molina began the frame with back-to-back singles. After Aaron Rowand lined out, Durham's single brought in Winn. Two batters later a Vizquel single loaded the bases and Bergmann issued a walk to Lincecum which forced in a run to make it 3-0.
Lewis followed with a two-run base hit and Castillo capped the surge with a three-run blast to right-center.
Lincecum held the Nats in check through the early stages, retiring the first 11 batters he faced before allowing a two-out fourth-inning single to Lastings Milledge.
The young hurler cruised along until the sixth. Ryan Langerhans led off with a single and scored on a Dukes two-out double but that was all Washington could muster.
Jesus Flores doubled with two down in the seventh, but Lincecum ended his solid performance by inducing a fly out from Felipe Lopez.
Meanwhile, the Giants offense kept plugging away. A Vizquel sacrifice fly in the seventh pushed the San Francisco lead to 9-1 and Molina's eighth-inning RBI single put the Giants into double digits.
Alex Hinshaw and Billy Sadler ended the rout with one scoreless relief inning each, striking out three without yielding a hit.
Bowker's second-inning RBI single gave the Giants the early lead.
