Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Manny Parra allowed one run in seven strong innings and Gabe Kapler went 4-for-5 to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks and complete a three-game sweep.
Parra (4-2) struck out a season-high eight batters and walked two, retiring the last 14 Diamondbacks he faced. Kapler's season-high four hits included an RBI double and two runs scored.
Corey Hart and Russell Branyan both went 2-for-4 and hit back-to-back homers, Hart's and inside-the-parker. Hart drove in four runs on the day as Milwaukee won a season-high sixth in a row, and ninth in 10 games.
Micah Owings (6-4) only lasted three innings for Arizona allowing five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits. Chris Burke was 3-for-4 and scored the Diamondbacks' lone run in their third straight loss.
"I was making pretty good pitches but they were able to string together a bunch of hits in the third inning," Owings said. "They're playing well right now, they're a hot team."
Edgar Gonzalez was touched for five runs on six hits including two homers in three innings of relief.
The Brewers broke a 5-1 game open in the fourth with back-to-back home runs, the first of the inside-the-park variety. A two-out Kapler single set up an RBI triple for Ryan Braun. Fielder followed with a walk and labored around to score on Hart's frozen rope to right field that got past a diving Upton, allowing Hart to come around for the homer.
"I got a kick out of it when they announced Hart's home run distance as 206 feet," manager Ned Yost said.
Branyan followed with a blast to straightaway center field to cap Milwaukee's scoring. They were Hart's and Branyan's seventh and fourth homers of the year, respectively, extending Milwaukee's lead from four runs to nine.
"I can hit home runs further than that but I'll take them any way I can get them," Hart said.
Augie Ojeda and Burke hit back-to-back singles to start the eighth but Julian Tavarez rebounded with three straight strikeouts to end the threat.
Rickie Weeks hit an infield single to lead off the first inning and advanced to second on a pick-off attempt thrown wide of first base. Kapler drove in Weeks with a double to put Milwaukee on top.
Mark Reynolds tied the game in the top of the third with a one-out single to score Burke, who reached on a single.
Milwaukee responded, however, with four runs in the bottom of the third. Parra helped his cause with a double to start the inning. The Brewers then reeled off five consecutive one-out singles to score three runs and load the bases. Jason Kendall broke the string of singles with a sacrifice fly, but gave Milwaukee a four-run lead.
"The thing about a major league season is that it often goes in cycles," Yost said. "Our play in the current homestand has been about as good as it can be. We play tough at home."
