San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Josh Banks notched his first career complete game and Adrian Gonzalez drove in three runs, as the San Diego Padres defeated the San Francisco Giants, 5-1, in the middle installment of a three- game set from AT&T Park.
Banks (2-0) allowed one run on six hits in his second career start. He also struck out five and walked none. The right-hander hurled a Padres season-high six scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's 12-9 win in 18 innings to pick up his first Major League victory.
Kevin Kouzmanoff had two hits and Justin Huber doubled in a run for San Diego, which ran its winning streak to a season-high three games. Brian Giles singled and walked three times, while Edgar Gonzalez scored two runs.
Pat Misch (0-2) allowed five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss for the Giants. The lefty walked three and fanned four. Vinnie Chulk and Alex Hinshaw combined to pitch 2 2/3 hitless innings in relief.
Emmanuel Burriss finished 2-for-3 at the plate for the Giants, who have dropped two straight following a three-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Aaron Rowand knocked in the lone run in the ninth to spoil Banks' bid for the shutout.
The Padres jumped on Misch for four runs in the top of the first. Scott Hairston reached first on Jose Castillo's throwing error to lead off the game. Edgar Gonzalez then singled to center and Giles drew a walk to load the bases for Adrian Gonzalez, who laced a two-run single to right.
A hit by Kouzmanoff plated another run before an out had been recorded. After Khalil Greene went down on strikes, Huber smacked an RBI double to left field to give the visitors a 4-0 edge. Misch retired Luke Carlin and Banks to avoid further damage.
Misch settled down and did not allow another hit until Kouzmanoff's two-out single in the fifth.
Gonzalez made it a 5-0 game with an RBI single in the seventh and Rowand's RBI single with two down in the ninth accounted for the final score.
