National League Game Summary - Colorado at Chicago

Final Score: Colorado 9 - Chicago Cubs 10

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Mark DeRosa's two-run homer capped a six-run seventh inning as Chicago roared back from an eight-run deficit to edge Colorado, 10-9, at historic Wrigley Field.

Kosuke Fukudome, Jim Edmonds and Henry Blanco also homered for the Cubs, who won their fifth straight game. DeRosa and Edmonds each drove in three runs for the Cubs.

Ted Lilly was touched for seven runs -- four earned -- on eight hits in just three innings. Scott Eyre (2-0) earned the win by getting the final out in the seventh and Kerry Wood picked up his 13th save with a scoreless ninth.

Todd Helton, Chris Iannetta and Ryan Spilborghs each hit home runs for the hapless Rockies, who have lost five straight. Jeff Baker added a team-record four doubles for Colorado.

Aaron Cook surrendered seven runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings. Manny Corpas (0-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up DeRosa's homer.

"I wasn't worried about the wind, just worried about executing pitches," Cook said. "The fact is, the last couple of innings I didn't execute and got the ball up and they took advantage of it. Early the wind was blowing, but I was still getting ground ball outs and late, I just didn't execute and didn't make pitches."

Trailing 9-1, Chicago fought back a bit with the long ball in the sixth. Micah Hoffpauir led off with a ground-rule double before Fukudome blasted his third homer of the year over the wall in left. Edmonds followed by crushing another homer over the wall in dead-center, his first as a Cub, to make it 9-4.

The Cubs then came all the way back and jumped in front with a six-run seventh. Mike Fontenot started the big inning with a one-out single and Blanco ripped his first homer of the year to left. Hoffpauir followed with a single and Colorado manager Clint Hurdle had seen enough of Cook, going to Corpas.

The move backfired badly as Fukudome greeted the reliever with a single before Edmonds ripped a two-run double past center fielder Willy Taveras. DeRosa then capped by comeback by lofting his fifth home run of the season over the fence in left to put the Cubs on top 10-9.

"Unbelievable. When Henry (Blanco) hit that homer, I thought we had a legitimate chance," said DeRosa. "This speaks volumes for the character of the team."

Carlos Marmol came on for the Cubs and struck out the side in the eighth before Wood nailed things down.

"What can I say? That's the description of a come-from-behind win," said Cubs manager Lou Piniella. "These guys kept battling and put runs on the board. Just a heck of a come-from-behind win. I got excited today. When DeRosa's ball went out of the ballpark, that's the loudest this place has been all year, by far. It was almost deafening."

The Rockies jumped all over Lilly with a four-spot in the first. Taveras and Jonathan Herrera opened the game with consecutive singles to put runners on the corners. Lilly flirted with getting out of trouble by getting Ryan Spilborghs to line out to third and Garrett Atkins to pop out to right. But, Helton ripped a three-run homer to center and Chris Iannetta and Baker followed with consecutive doubles to cap the frame.

Colorado added three more runs in the third. Atkins reached on a Edmonds error and Iannetta lofted a two-out homer just over the wall in left to extend the Rockies lead to 6-0. Baker kept things going with a double to left before Omar Quintanilla slapped an RBI single up the middle.

Spilborghs made it an 8-0 game in the fourth by depositing his fourth homer of the year over the wall in left.

The Cubs finally got on the scoreboard in the home-half of the fourth when Derrek Lee singled up the middle, moved to second on Fukudome's walk and advanced to third on Edmonds' single before DeRosa lofted a sacrifice fly to right.

The Rockies got that run back in the fifth when Baker laced a two-out double to left and Quintanilla followed with an RBI single.
