Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Mark Teixeira went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, four RBI and two walks for the Atlanta Braves in an 8-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers to wrap up a three-game set.
In his third start of the season Jorge Campillo (2-0) struck out six batters in five innings and allowed one earned run to pick up the win for the Braves, who had lost three of four coming into the game. Yunel Escobar, Kelly Johnson and Chipper Jones joined Teixeira with multi-hit days and a run scored each.
Seth McClung (2-2) took the loss allowing six earned runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings of work for the Brewers, who had a three-game winning streak stopped. Russell Branyan's solo homer provided Milwaukee's only run.
"McClung had a lot of trouble with his control today, but managed to work out of it very well until the fifth inning," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "Overall I think he did a pretty good job, and he'll get another start."
Escobar and Jones each singled in the third to put runners on the corners with two outs. Teixeira capitalized with an infield single, scoring Escobar for a 1-0 lead.
Campillo pitched four scoreless innings allowing two hits to begin the game.
"If [Campillo] can give us five [innings] like that every night, it's fine. He's an incredibly gifted pitcher that knows what he's doing," Braves manager Bobby Cox said.
Ryan Braun's double in the fourth gave Milwaukee its first scoring opportunity, but he was called out on an inning-ending steal attempt due to interference on the throw by Corey Hart.
Teixeira caused more damage with a one-out, three-run homer in the fifth, his sixth of the season.
"My power hasn't been there yet this year. I'm working on it," Teixeira said.
One out later, Jeff Francoeur doubled to left-center before McClung issued consecutive walks to Gregor Blanco and Corky Miller to load the bases. That was enough for manager Ned Yost to pull McClung from the game.
Tim Dillard allowed a two-out single to Campillo, his first career hit, to score Francoeur and Blanco and put the Braves up 6-0.
Branyan responded with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the inning, his first of the year after being recalled from Triple-A Nashville this week, to put the Brewers on the board.
Hart botched another Milwaukee scoring chance in the sixth. After a two-out single by Prince Fielder, Hart laced a double down the first base line. Fielder pulled up at third, however, and Hart rounded second unaware, forcing Fielder into a rundown to end the inning.
The Braves added two runs in the ninth off of Julian Tavarez. Johnson's bases loaded, two-out single scored Miller and Omar Infante to account for the final score.
