National League Game Summary - Pittsburgh at Cincinnati

Final Score: Pittsburgh 1 - Cincinnati 9

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - David Ross went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and four runs batted in, while Bronson Arroyo threw six strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds trounced the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-1, in the second of a three-game set at Great American Ball Park.

Arroyo (4-4) was moved up two days in the rotation after Aaron Harang and Edinson Volquez were both used in relief in Sunday's 12-9, 18-inning loss to San Diego. He allowed a run on just three hits, striking out six and walking four.

Joey Votto went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored for the Reds, who have won nine straight at home. Jerry Hairston Jr. went 3-for-5, drove in a run and scored a run, while Edwin Encarnacion added an RBI double.

Tom Gorzelanny (4-5) struggled through the shortest outing of his career, surrendering six runs on four hits and two walks in two-third of an inning for the Pirates, losers of two straight. Franquelis Osoria allowed just one run in 4 1/3 innings of relief and drove in the only run for Pittsburgh.

The Reds exploded out of the gate, putting six runs on board in the first and chasing Gorzelanny before the end of the inning.

Hairston led off with a single, then moved to second on a wild pitch. Jay Bruce worked a walk, and after he and Hairston executed a double steal, Ken Griffey Jr. plated the game's first run with a sacrifice fly. One out later, Adam Dunn drew a walk, then Encarnacion smashed a double to the corner in left to score Bruce.

Votto followed with a soft flare to left that fell in front of Jason Bay for a two-run single, then Ross golfed a fly ball to right-center that just cleared the wall to give the Reds a 6-0 lead and chase Gorzelanny in favor of Osoria.

Osoria picked up an RBI single in the top of the second to cut the lead to 6-1, but a Votto double and a single from Ross restored the six-run margin in the home fourth.

Hairston's two-out single in the sixth scored Votto to up the lead to 8-1, and after the Reds loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, Marino Salas walked Ross to give Cincy an eight-run edge.

The Reds' Mike Lincoln, David Weathers and Bill Bray finished the game off with three hitless innings.
