National League Game Summary - Atlanta at Milwaukee

Final Score: Atlanta 0 - Milwaukee 1

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Jeff Suppan tossed eight scoreless innings and Rickie Weeks tripled in the winning run in the eighth, lifting the Brewers over the Atlanta Braves, 1-0, at Miller Park.

Suppan (3-4) allowed only four hits in his longest outing of the season. He walked five, but struck out a season-high seven batters, including Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann to close out the eighth. It was his first win against the Braves in five career decisions, as the Brewers posted their third straight victory.

"Tonight it was about making pitches," Suppan said. "The defense helped me out tremendously and we were able to come and get that run late, which was obviously key."

Weeks had two hits and J.J. Hardy scored the winning run, walked twice and made a diving catch to spear pinch-hitter Greg Norton's line drive to end the game.

Atlanta starter Jo-Jo Reyes (2-3) tossed seven-plus strong innings in taking the hard-luck loss. He struck out a career-high nine batters allowing only two hits and three walks.

Chipper Jones singled and walked twice for the Braves to keep his major league-leading average at .418.

Atlanta dropped its second straight contest in the series, both by a run and is in danger of being swept Thursday. The Braves also continued their road woes, holding the National League's worst mark at 6-18.

"We've got a great hitting team and we should not be in any damn rut," Braves manager Bobby Cox said. "We had the guys on; we were always one hit away with two outs."

Reyes started the eighth inning with a walk to Hardy, which proved to be costly. Blaine Boyer came on for Reyes to retire the next two batters, with Jason Kendall putting down a sacrifice bunt and pinch-hitter Joe Dillon striking out. Weeks ripped a triple into the left field corner.

Salomon Torres came on for the ninth and retired the Braves in order for his fourth save of the season.

Atlanta got back-to-back two-out singles from Jones and Teixeira in the third, but Suppan got McCann looking at a third strike to end the inning.

The Braves failed to move a runner as far as second base past the fifth inning.
