Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Bengie Molina hit a three-run home run as the San Francisco Giants downed the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-3, in the opener of a three-game set at Chase Field.
Jose Castillo hit a solo homer, while Fred Lewis had two hits and scored twice for the Giants, who have won four of their last six. Tim Lincecum (7-1) got the win as he gave up three runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings of work.
"The kid, (Lincecum) has been so consistent and pitched so well and did a great job tonight," said San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy. "He got us deep in the game, he is special. He is one of the better pitchers in the game."
Orlando Hudson and Conor Jackson each had two hits with a run scored, and Dan Haren (5-4) got the loss as he gave up five runs on nine hits in six innings of work for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped three of their last four.
"I gave up five runs and felt like could have given up a lot more," said Haren. "I had great stuff, my stuff has gotten progressively better as the season has gone on, but unfortunately I haven't put it all together out there. I am feeling really good, but I am not getting the results."
The Giants grabbed the lead in the third. Lewis singled and Ray Durham then worked a walk. After Randy Winn flied out, Molina blasted a shot over the left-center wall for a 3-0 lead.
San Francisco made it a 4-0 game when Castillo hit a one-out, solo homer to center in the fourth.
The Giants tacked on another run in the fifth as Lewis led off with a double and Durham followed with another two-bagger for five-run advantage.
The Diamondbacks got on the board in the bottom of fifth, as Jeff Salazar walked, moved to second on Haren's groundout and crossed the plate on a single from Chris Young to make it a 5-1 game.
However, the Giants got the run back in the seventh on Aaron Rowand's RBI single that plated Durham.
Arizona made it a three-run game in the eighth. Chad Tracy belted a double to right that scored Hudson and Jackson, who earlier reached base on a single, and scored on a wild pitch from Tyler Walker.
Brian Wilson, though, retired Arizona in order in the ninth to pick up his 15th save of the season.
