American League Game Summary - Baltimore at Tampa Bay

Final Score: Baltimore 4 - Tampa Bay 11

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Evan Longoria homered twice and drove in six runs as the Tampa Bay Rays torched Steve Trachsel for nine runs in less than two innings on their way to an 11-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles in the middle contest of a three-game set at Tropicana Field.

Carlos Pena was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three runs batted in for the Rays, who have won two straight and four of five. B.J. Upton went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and three runs scored, while Carl Crawford had a pair of hits and scored three times.

Edwin Jackson (3-3) earned the win, allowing three runs on four hits in five innings, walking five and striking out two.

"He wasn't really on top of his game," said Rays manager Joe Maddon. "I give him credit for fighting through five innings."

Trachsel (2-5) was shelled for nine runs on seven hits in 1 2/3 frames for the O's, who suffered their fourth straight defeat. Luke Scott belted a two-run home run, while Guillermo Quiroz and Jay Payton each drove in a run.

The Rays pounced on Trachsel with one out in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Crawford grounded a single up the middle, and after Upton worked a walk, Pena lined a double to the gap in right center to plate the game's first run. Longoria followed by golfing Trachsel's 0-1 pitch into the stands in left for a three-run blast and a 4-0 lead.

"It just takes one game to get your swing going," Longoria said. "I usually don't get real, real hot then real, real cold. I'm pretty consistent."

Payton walked to start the second, and after moving to second when Adam Jones flew out to center, Payton crossed the plate when Quiroz lined a two-out single up the middle.

Tampa Bay continued to pound Trachsel with two outs in the frame, pouring on five more runs. Akinori Iwamura drew a walk, then moved to third on Crawford's single to left. Upton then drilled a liner to right-center for a two-run double, and Pena immediately followed with a long fly ball to left-center that fell for an RBI triple.

Longoria followed with a line drive homer to almost the same spot as his first shot, upping the lead to 9-1 and putting an abrupt end to Trachsel's night.

"I missed some spots, but even when I was hitting spots they were hitting the ball hard, so I might be tipping my pitches," Trachsel said. "If that's not it, I have some serious things to figure out."

Scott pulled two runs back in the third, drilling a two-out homer to right, but the Rays restored the eight-run cushion in the fourth, as Pena plated Crawford with a single to right, then Longoria knocked in his sixth run of the game when Upton scored on his sacrifice fly.

Payton picked up an RBI double off Gary Glover in the eighth, and the Orioles loaded the bases with two outs in the frame, but Al Reyes came in to strike out Quiroz and remove any doubt as to the outcome.
