National League Game Summary - Arizona at Atlanta

Final Score: Arizona 1 - Atlanta 3

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Jeff Francoeur's two-run home run off Chad Qualls with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Atlanta Braves to a 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second of a four-game series at Turner Field.

After Blaine Boyer worked around a walk to Miguel Montero in the top of the ninth, Chipper Jones started the home half with a line single to right off Doug Slaten, then moved to second when Mark Teixeira grounded to short. Qualls came on in relief, but Francoeur hammered an 0-1 slider into the seats in left to give the Braves the win.

"It was nice," Francoeur said. "It was funny, because I was sitting in the hole and Chipper's up and (Braves manager Bobby Cox) asked me, 'Do you think with this wind you can get one out?' I said, 'I think you might have to get it a little bit,' so, it was just nice to do it."

Boyer (1-3) held the D-Backs scoreless over 1 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win for the Braves, who won for the sixth time in seven games. Jorge Campillo started and threw four shutout innings, allowing just two hits, but left with a blister on his right middle finger. Yunel Escobar added an RBI single for the Braves.

Slaten (0-1) took the loss in relief of Randy Johnson, who allowed a run on five hits in six innings, racking up 10 strikeouts. Augie Ojeda drove in the only run for the Diamondbacks, who had just three hits and lost for the fourth time in five games.

"I don't really put a lot of credence in (double-digit strikeout games)," Johnson said. "I don't know how many I have, but I have a lot where we didn't win the ballgame, so it is what it is. You still have to be able to win the ballgame."

The Braves picked up an early lead when Gregor Blanco lined a triple to the corner in right to lead off the home third, and scored one out later when Escobar singled to left.

Chris Young walked with one out in the sixth, then advanced when Jeff Bennett misfired on a throw to second on Stephen Drew's grounder back to the mound. A walk to Orlando Hudson loaded the bases, but Bennett induced Conor Jackson into an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play to keep the D-Backs scoreless.

The D-Backs finally broke through against Bennett in the seventh, as Justin Upton worked a leadoff walk, then beat out Jones' throw to second on Eric Byrnes' grounder to put runners on first and second. Two outs later, pinch- hitter Ojeda lined a single to left, plating Upton for the tying run.

Mark Kotsay looked to start an Atlanta rally in the home eighth when he led off with a single, but Escobar was called out on batter interference, and Tony Pena got Omar Infante to ground into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.
