National League Game Summary - New York at Atlanta

Final Score: NY Mets 2 - Atlanta 4

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Tim Hudson tossed eight strong innings to lead Atlanta to a 4-2 win over the New York Mets, as the Braves completed a four- game sweep at Turner Field.

Hudson (7-3) allowed two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts for the Braves, who outscored the Mets 27-9 in the series and garnered the first four-game sweep of their NL East rivals since July 17-20, 2003. Kelly Johnson finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Mark Teixeira also added an RBI and a run scored in the victory.

"We had a great series against this team -- we played every game hard," said Hudson. "Things are going well for us right now. Tonight, we were down early but we eventually put some runs on the board."

New York starting pitcher Johan Santana saw his seven-start unbeaten streak halted and suffered his first loss since April 12 against Milwaukee. Santana (5-3) surrendered four runs -- three earned -- on 12 hits and struck out only one batter with no walks.

Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado both homered in the losing effort. New York has lost six of its last eight games overall.

"We just have to forget about it," said Santana. "We go to Colorado tomorrow and hopefully go home with a series win. It's been tough. They played good baseball -- you have to give them credit. They're better than us."

The Braves trailed 2-1, but scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning. Johnson led off with a double and moved to third on Hudson's bunt. Omar Infante then singled home Johnson and the score was tied.

After Infante advanced to second base on a wild pitch, Mark Kotsay's base hit put runners at the corners before Chipper Jones drilled a single that scored Infante. The rally was capped when Teixeira followed with another RBI base hit and Kotsay crossed the plate for a 4-2 lead.

The Mets had runners on first and second with one out in the eighth but Hudson induced a 1-6-3 double play off the bat of Luis Castillo. Manny Acosta gave up a leadoff single to David Wright in the ninth, but Beltran lined into a quick double play before Will Ohman entered from the Atlanta bullpen. Ohman needed only two pitches to get Delgado to fly out and earned his first save.

New York attained its only offense in the top of the second when Beltran led off with his fourth home run of the season. Delgado followed with his sixth homer, but the back-to-back blasts were the only errors of the night for Hudson.

The Braves cut their deficit in half in the bottom of the second on Johnson's RBI single which scored Teixeira, who had reached first safely on a fielding error by Brian Schneider.

Hudson was perfect through the next four innings and retired 12 straight batters before Beltran's single started the top of the seventh. Beltran stole second, but the Mets failed to capitalize. Delgado flied out and both Marlon Anderson and Schneider grounded out.
