National League Game Summary - Arizona at Florida

Final Score: Arizona 0 - Florida 4

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - For the second straight night a young Marlins pitcher outpitched a more established Arizona starter, as Andrew Miller tossed seven shutout innings to lead upstart Florida to a stunning three- game sweep of the Diamondbacks with a 4-0 win.

On Wednesday night it was Ricky Nolasco outlasting previously unbeaten Brandon Webb. On Thursday it was Miller's turn, upstaging Dan Haren in the process. Miller (4-3) scattered five hits, struck out a career-high nine, and walked one for the Marlins, who swept the three-game matchup of division leaders, maintaining their surprising spot atop the National League East.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't kind of beating myself up at the beginning of the year when I was struggling real bad," said Miller. "Having a few good ones (starts) in a row is nice. Confidence is big and I think it's really starting to grow."

Alfredo Amezaga went 3-for-3 and scored, and Wes Helms had a pinch-hit, two- run double for Florida.

Haren (5-3) surrendered four runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings, fanning eight with no walks for the D-Backs, who had won four of five entering this series. Arizona left nine runners on base in the shutout, which capped a series in which it scored three runs in three games.

The Marlins jumped on top in the first. Ramirez, who took the night off on Wednesday after a 1-for-15 stretch with 10 strikeouts, returned to the lineup with a leadoff triple to right-center. Jeremy Hermida's fly out was too shallow to score Ramirez, but Jorge Cantu's grounder to second did the job, and Florida took a 1-0 lead.

Both pitchers kept their opponents off the scoreboard until the seventh, when the Marlins broke through for three more runs. Matt Treanor and Amezaga laced consecutive one-out singles, and pinch-hitter Wes Helms doubled down the line in left, scoring both runners and sending Haren to the showers.

"I was pitching real good until the very end there," said Haren. "Gave up a two-strike hit, then a little blooper and that was the game right there. Against (Wes) Helms I tried to get a little sinker in and it got a little too much plate and he put a pretty good swing on it."

Chad Qualls came on for Arizona and got Ramirez to ground out, but beaned Hermida, and Cantu's single to left plated Helms to give the Marlins a four- run edge.

The D-Backs had two men on base with two outs in the eighth against Florida reliever Logan Kensing, but Kensing induced a Justin Upton groundout to end the threat.

Justin Miller worked around a one-out double by Chris Burke in the ninth to nail down the win.
