Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Manny Parra's terrific outing on the hill was backed by a 14-hit barrage as the Milwaukee Brewers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

Parra (2-2) entered the contest in the midst of a personal seven-start winless stretch, but the left-hander held the Pirates off the scoreboard for 5 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits and a walk, while striking out six in halting the Brewers' nine-game road losing skid.

Relievers Seth McLung and Guillermo Mota did not allow a hit in their 2 1/3 combined innings of relief, but Eric Gagne squandered the shutout bid by surrendering a two-run homer in the ninth.

Mike Cameron went 3-for-4 with a two-run round-tripper, and Corey Hart added a solo shot to go with his 2-for-5 performance at the plate for Milwaukee, which convincingly took the opener of the three-game set.

Pittsburgh's Paul Maholm (2-5) was credited with the loss after being touched for four runs on nine hits and two walks through 6 1/3 innings.

Jason Bay's blast in the ninth accounted for the club's only runs, and Xavier Nady tallied two of the Pirates' six hits in the their second straight setback.

Maholm loaded the bases in the second inning and looked to get out of the jam by striking out Parra and getting Jason Kendall to ground into a possible inning-ending double play. But second baseman Freddy Sanchez forgot how many outs there were and failed to turn two, effectively forcing in the game's first run.

In the fifth, Ryan Braun muscled a broken-bat single to left, scoring the speedy Rickie Weeks from second for a 2-0 Milwaukee lead.

Parra didn't allow a base runner past second until the sixth inning, when McClung came on and induced Bay to pop out with two outs, stranding Sanchez 90 feet from the plate.

Cameron made it a four-run game in the seventh, turning on a 2-0 fastball and lofting it down the left field line, where it barely found the seats for his fifth homer of the season.

The away team tacked on two more in the eighth on an RBI double by Bill Hall, who scored two batters later when Nady's throw to the plate from right sailed over the catcher's head.

Hart blasted a solo shot to right in the ninth, as Gagne came on in the home half to finish off the shutout.

Gagne issued a leadoff walk to Jose Bautista and, two batters later, Bay lined a shot down the left field line that cleared the wall for his 10th home run of the season.

Gagne would leave later in the inning after apparently injuring his throwing arm, and Salomon Torres recorded the final out. After the game, the Brewers indicated Gagne was just experiencing stiffness in his right arm and should not miss any time.
