National League Game Summary - Arizona at Florida

Final Score: Arizona 2 - Florida 3

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Closer Kevin Gregg came on with the bases loaded and one out in the eighth and Florida nursing a one-run lead, and recorded the last five outs of the Marlins' 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a three-game set.

Gregg's eighth save of the season nailed down the win for Mark Hendrickson (6-2), who held the Diamondbacks to four hits and one run with seven strikeouts and a walk, but lasted only five innings. Dan Uggla went 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the Marlins, who have won two of three after dropping four straight.

The loss obscured a career-high 10 strikeouts by Arizona starter Micah Owings (5-2), who took the loss despite scattering seven hits and three runs over seven frames. Chris Snyder homered for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped two of three after winning four straight.

"We ended up beating ourselves today," Owings lamented. "We had chances, myself included. I could have picked us up, could've helped my team, could've helped myself and didn't get it done."

Renyel Pinto started the eighth inning for Florida, and issued three straight one-out walks to Chris Young, Augie Ojeda and Conor Jackson. Gregg came out of the bullpen for a five-out save, and slammed the door shut on the D-Backs.

He fanned Justin Upton and Eric Byrnes to end the eighth, and then worked around a one-out walk in the ninth. Gregg got Young to line out to Hanley Ramirez at short to end the game.

Jeremy Hermida put the Marlins on top with a clutch two-out double to right in the third, allowing Alfredo Amezaga to score from second.

Jackson's sacrifice fly in the fourth tied the game at 1-1.

Uggla worked a one-out walk in the home half of the frame, and swiped second base as Jorge Cantu swung through strike three. Luis Gonzalez then came through with another two-out hit for the Marlins, a single to left to put Florida back on top.

Uggla extended the Florida lead to 3-1 when he belted a 1-1 offering from Owings into the stands in left during the sixth, his 14th homer of the season.

"I don't know about anybody else but I've been humbled so many times and just been on Cloud Nine then brought back down to reality quicker than you can imagine," Uggla said of the tense nature of the game. "So it's gotten to the point where I know baseball will humble you if you get away from it (an even keel)."

Snyder returned the favor in the seventh, as his homer to left with two outs and the bases empty cut the deficit to one run.
