MLB Game Summary - Toronto at Philadelphia

Final Score: Toronto 6 - Philadelphia 5

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Lyle Overbay slugged a pinch-hit three-run homer, as the Toronto Blue Jays held on for a 6-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park that featured over two and a half hours of rain delays.

Shannon Stewart had a two-run double and former Phillie Rod Barajas finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Blue Jays, who took two of three games in the series. Toronto has won six of its last seven games.

Blue Jays starter Shaun Marcum managed to throw just one inning -- allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk -- as he was lifted after a two hour and four minute rain delay.

He was replaced by Shawn Camp, who worked three innings and gave up one run on four hits. Jason Frasor (1-0) picked up the win, despite allowing a run in 1 1/3 innings. B.J. Ryan earned his ninth save of the season.

Ryan Howard finished 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, while Pat Burrell hit a solo shot for the Phillies, who have dropped five of their last eight. Jimmy Rollins was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a pair of walks.

Kyle Kendrick got the start for the Phillies, but pitched only one scoreless inning prior to the first rain delay. Right-hander Chad Durbin took over when play resumed and surrendered three runs on two hits over four innings.

He was followed by Rudy Seanez (2-3), who took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits in one inning of work.

With Toronto holding onto a 6-4 lead, Ryan was brought on for the ninth to try and preserve the win. The Blue Jays closer, facing the heart of the Phillies order, retired Chase Utley and then struck out Howard. But Burrell crushed a homer to left to get Philadelphia within one. Pinch hitter Chris Coste followed with a double, but Ryan settled down to strike out Eric Bruntlett to end the game.

After the Blue Jays went down in order in the top of the first, the Phillies put two on the board in the home half. Rollins led off with a single and stole second. Two outs later Howard launched a 1-1 changeup over the left-center field wall to give Philadelphia the early edge.

Following the lengthy rain delay, neither team could get much going offensively, but the Phils punched a run across in the fourth. Geoff Jenkins and Pedro Feliz hit back-to-back singles with one out, putting runners on first and second. Carlos Ruiz then lined a single to right to make it 3-0.

The Blue Jays responded in a big way in the top of the fifth. With two outs and nobody on base, Barajas lined a double to left and after Marco Scutaro drew a free pass, Overbay, pinch-hitting for Camp, hammered a 2-1 fastball into the upper deck to tie the game.

Philly had a golden opportunity to reclaim the lead in the bottom of the frame. With the bases loaded and one out, Frasor was brought in from the bullpen and got Feliz to pop out to second base, then got Ruiz on a weak grounder to second to get out of trouble.

Toronto took advantage of the Phillies' lack of hitting with runners in scoring position in the top of the six. Aaron Hill lined a leadoff double to left that was misplayed by Burrell and two outs later, Seanez issued an intentional walk to Matt Stairs. Stewart followed by splitting the right- center field gap with a double that plated a pair of runs, giving the Blue Jays their first lead of the game. The visitors tacked on another when Barajas' base hit to left made it 6-3.

The Phillies got a run back in the home half of the sixth when Utley lined a double down the right-field line, scoring Rollins, who started the frame with a one-out walk. Howard then drew a free pass to put runners on first and second with two outs prior to a 37-minute rain delay.

When play resumed, Roy Halladay, making a rare relief appearance, got Burrell to pop out to first to end the inning.
