MLB Game Summary - Washington at Baltimore

Final Score: Washington 3 - Baltimore 5

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Brian Roberts went 2-for-4 with a triple, and the Baltimore bullpen threw four scoreless innings, as the Orioles opened interleague play with a 5-3 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Melvin Mora, who missed the past two games with a sore shoulder, doubled and batted in a run, while Nick Markakis and Kevin Millar each had an RBI. Luke Scott hit a solo homer for Baltimore, which went 2-4 against its Beltway rival last season.

Garrett Olson (3-0) gave up three runs on nine hits in five innings, and struck out three, while Matt Albers threw two-plus scoreless innings of relief. George Sherrill tossed a perfect ninth for his 16th save of the season for the Orioles, who have won three in a row and six of seven.

Ryan Zimmerman had three hits and two RBI, while Lastings Milledge and Jesus Flores each had two base-hits, but the Nationals had a two-game win streak snapped.

Shawn Hill (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits in five frames.

With the score tied at three apiece, Roberts led off the bottom of the fifth with a triple. Mora followed with a double to score Roberts easily.

After Markakis struck out, Aubrey Huff hit into a fielder's choice, as Mora was tagged out at third. Huff, though, advanced to second on the play and scored when Millar punched a single to left for a 5-3 Orioles lead.

Albers came on and, in the sixth and seventh innings, allowed only a walk to Flores and a single to Dmitri Young. He did give up a leadoff single to Milledge to start the eighth, and was lifted in favor of Jim Johnson, who proceeded to strike out the side. Sherrill entered for the ninth and easily closed out the game.

The Nationals got the jump on the Orioles in the first inning, which Felipe Lopez led off with a single. Cristian Guzman followed up with a ground-rule double, and Zimmerman drove them both in with a single to left for a 2-0 Washington edge.

But Baltimore equalized the game in the third, as singles from Adam Jones and Roberts put two men on base. Mora then worked a walk to load the bags with one out, and Markakis hit a grounder to third.

Zimmerman scooped it up and threw to second to start a double-play, but Lopez couldn't complete it as he threw the ball well off the mark and into foul territory past first base. Jones and Roberts were able to score on the play, tying the game.

The teams traded runs in the fourth. Washington edged in front on a sacrifice fly from Elijah Dukes that plated Aaron Boone, and Scott hammered his third homer of the season in the bottom half for a 3-3 game.
