Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Juan Pierre went 3-for-5, scored a run and knocked in three runs, including the tying and go-ahead runs in the ninth, as the Los Angeles Dodgers stole a 6-4 game from the Milwaukee Brewers in the middle contest of a three-game set.
Blake DeWitt had a solo home run and scored twice for the Dodgers, who saw their five-game skid become history. Andruw Jones had a pair of hits and a run batted in in the win.
Derek Lowe started for LA and went six innings, giving up four runs on six hits, but did not factor in the decision. Jonathan Broxton (2-1) took the win by getting the last two outs in the eighth. Takashi Saito earned his sixth save of the year with a perfect ninth.
Corey Hart went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored a run for the Brewers, who saw their three-game win streak come to an end. Manny Parra added a pair of RBI, while Jason Kendall knocked in the other run in defeat.
Parra also started for Milwaukee and went 6 2/3 innings, surrendering only three runs -- one earned -- on seven hits while striking out four and walking two. Guillermo Mota (1-2) took the loss after he gave up three runs in the ninth.
"The very encouraging thing for me tonight was Manny Parra," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "He was a totally different person on that mound."
Mota took the hill for Milwaukee in the ninth to try and close it out and got DeWitt to ground out, but pinch-hitter Delwyn Young worked a walk. Pinch- hitter Andre Ethier crushed a single down the right field line to advance Young to third. Pierre stepped to the plate next and crushed a two-run double to the gap in left-center. Then, with Jones batting, Pierre stole third base, before crossing home plate on Jones' grounder to J.J. Hardy. The Brewers took a 6-4 lead after a three-run ninth.
Saito toed the rubber for the Dodgers in the ninth and caught Craig Counsell looking at strike three, Gabe Kapler also went down staring at the third strike, and Kendall grounded out to end the game.
"It was a great game to be able to come from behind," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said. "Hopefully, it will get us back on track."
The Brewers broke the scoreless tie in the second. Prince Fielder and Hart opened the frame with back-to-back singles, and after Bill Hall struck out, Counsell worked a walk to load the bases. Parra then clubbed a single to right field, allowing Fielder and Hart to cross home. Kendall added another single to plate Counsell, and Milwaukee held a 3-0 advantage.
DeWitt's home run in the top of the fifth made it 3-1.
Milwaukee tacked on another run in the sixth. Hardy led off with a walk, moved to second on Ryan Braun's ground out and Fielder was intentionally walked. Hart hit a single up the middle, and Hardy scored to make it 4-1.
The Dodgers made it a game in the seventh. James Loney hit a one-out single, but DeWitt grounded into a force out. A wild pitch from Parra advanced DeWitt to second, before a Chin-Lung Hu single made it first and third. Pinch-hitter Mark Sweeney then grounded into what appeared to be a groundout, but an error from Fielder scored DeWitt and left runners on second and third. Pierre then singled to plate Hu, and L.A. had closed it to 4-3.
