Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Garret Anderson drove in all five runs to lead the Angels to a 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
Anderson, who homered in Monday's series-opening win, belted a three-run homer and added a pair of RBI singles for the Angels, who have captured six of their last eight games overall and will attempt to sweep this three-game set on Wednesday. Anderson is now 4-for-8 with two homers and seven RBI in the series. Vladimir Guerrero posted two hits and two runs scored in the win.
"I'm always confident at the plate," said Anderson. "I have the ability to erase the last at-bat and think I'm going to do something positive (during the next) at-bat. That's something I've gained over the years."
Miguel Olivo finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Kansas City, which has dropped four of its last six.
The Angels trailed 3-0, but Anderson knotted the contest via his three-run homer in the top of the fourth. Casey Kotchman led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Torii Hunter before Anderson belted a Brian Bannister fastball over the wall in right field.
In the top of the fifth, Anderson's hot hitting continued when he drove in Guerrero, who had worked a one-out walk, moved to second on a single by Kotchman and advanced to third when Hunter flied out to right field.
"Anderson has had a lot of success against us," said Royals manager Trey Hillman. "We've got to do a better job of pitching to him."
Starter Nick Adenhart was solid for the Angels, but was removed with one out in the top of the fifth inning in favor of Darren Oliver(2-1) , who fanned Mark Teahen and Olivo to escape a jam.
Oliver, Justin Speier and Scot Shields combined to toss 3 2/3 scoreless innings, and Anderson's RBI single in the seventh -- which again scored Guerrero -- gave the visitors a two-run lead.
Francisco Rodriguez worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 14th save.
Bannister (3-4) suffered the loss after he allowed five runs on 13 hits with three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.
The Royals scored twice in the bottom of the second for an early two-run lead. Teahen kept the inning alive with a two-out walk before consecutive doubles by Olivo and Ross Gload. Teahen scored on the Olivo two-base hit and Gload's hit made it 2-0.
Another RBI double, this one off the bat of Alex Gordon, scored Billy Butler in the home third to give KC a three-run edge.
