Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Aaron Cook was dominant on the mound and Matt Holliday knocked in two runs, as the Colorado Rockies avoided a sweep with 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field.

Cook (5-1) allowed two runs on nine hits in 7 2/3 innings for Colorado, which won for only the second time in its last nine outings. Taylor Buchholz hurled 1 1/3 scoreless frames to earn his first save of the season.

"Just being consistent with my pitches, and giving us a chance to win games," Cook said on what's most satisfying about his strong start. "I worked hard all off-season to improve my secondary pitches, and I think it's working this year."

Scott Podsednik was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Omar Quintanilla provided an RBI double and scored two runs.

Derek Lowe (2-2) surrendered five runs on six hits over five innings for the Dodgers, who saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end.

Andre Ethier hit a solo home run, while Juan Pierre and Blake DeWitt each had two hits.

The Rockies grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Podsednik led off with a single, stole second base and scored on an RBI double by Quintanilla. Holliday then singled home Quintanilla and later scored on Chris Iannetta's sacrifice fly.

Los Angeles got on the board in the top of the fifth, as Ethier clubbed his third home run of the season.

Colorado countered with two runs in the home-half on RBI singles from Holliday and Garrett Atkins.

Podsednik singled home Iannetta, who drew a leadoff walk, in the sixth to make it 6-1.

In the eighth, Pierre lined a single to left field to drive in DeWitt, but the Rockies got the run back in the bottom-half on Jonathan Herrera's run-scoring single.
