National League Game Summary - Cincinnati at Atlanta

Final Score: Cincinnati 7 - Atlanta 14

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Chipper Jones hit a three-run homer and knocked in five and Mark Kotsay added a solo shot and three runs batted in as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 14-7, sweeping the three-game series at Turner Field.

Jones finished 3-for-6, while Kotsay was 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Braves, who have won three straight after dropping the previous four games. Kelly Johnson had a solid game for Atlanta, chipping in with a career- high four hits, including three doubles. He also drove in two and scored a pair.

Tom Glavine started, but was ineffective through 4 2/3 innings. The veteran lefty allowed six runs on seven hits, while striking out three and walking five.

Adam Dunn had two hits with a pair of RBI, while Paul Bako had two hits, including a homer for the Reds, who have lost five straight.

Bronson Arroyo (1-4) was tagged with the loss. The right-hander struggled mightily, giving up seven runs on seven hits while walking a batter over 1 1/3 innings.

"Today was the best I've throw in years," Arroyo said. "They just beat me. I had a good fastball. I had decent command. Everything felt good. I felt like I had pretty good stuff."

After a scoreless first inning, Atlanta put seven on the board in the second. Gregor Blanco's double to center chased home Brian McCann, who led off the frame with a walk and Jeff Francoeur took third. Martin Prado followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 game.

However, Atlanta wasn't finished as Glavine's RBI base hit tacked on another run and after Johnson's double to right put runners on second and third, Kotsay's single scored Glavine. Jones' three-run shot to right put the Braves up 7-0.

Bako's solo homer to right in the top of the third made it 7-1.

Atlanta got the run back in the home half of the third when Kotsay's infield single plated Blanco, who singled to start the frame.

Trailing 8-1, Cincinnati got four runs in the fourth. Joey Votto lined a one- out RBI single to center and after Edwin Encarnacion walked, Dunn split the right-center field gap with a two-base hit scoring a pair. Jeff Keppinger's run-scoring single cut the Reds deficit to 8-5.

An error by Johnson allowed one run to score in the fifth on a fielder's choice grounder by Ken Griffey, and the Reds threatened later in the frame. With the bases loaded and two down, Glavine was pulled in favor of Royce Ring (1-0). The lefty need only one pitch to retire Dunn on a fly out to left.

The Braves responded by plating four in the home half of the inning. Johnson's double to right scored Prado, who led off with a single and after Kotsay walked, the Reds turned to the bullpen, bringing in Bill Bray. The left-hander was promptly greeted by a sharp two-run single by Jones and two batters later McCann singled off the right-field fence to score another, putting Atlanta ahead 12-6.

"It was a nice offensive display the last couple days," Johnson said. Anytime you get four hits, it has to be one of your better games. We had tons of guys on base all day. It's fun to have games like that offensively."

Each team traded runs in the sixth. First, it was Ryan Freel doubling home Bako, but in the bottom of the frame, Johnson's RBI two-bagger made it 13-7.

Atlanta added another in the eighth when Kotsay launched a solo homer just inside the right-field foul pole.

Manny Acosta was brought on for the top of the ninth and retired the Reds in order to preserve with win.
