American League Game Summary - Kansas City at Cleveland

Final Score: Kansas City 4 - Cleveland 2

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Former No. 1 overall draft pick Luke Hochevar stifled the Indians for six innings, and Kansas City used a four-run seventh to overtake Cleveland, 4-2 at Progressive Field.

Weather has played a factor in this scheduled three-game series with Friday's opener being postponed due to rain and Saturday's showdown delayed 1:16.

Fresh off his first major league win, Hochevar (2-1) allowed two runs on just three hits and four walks, while fanning six for Kansas City, which had dropped three of four. Joakim Soria recorded a 1-2-3 ninth for his seventh save of the season in a terrific outing for the Royals' bullpen.

David DeJesus was 2-for-5 with a steal, a run scored and one batted in, while Mark Teahen roped three hits, and Billy Butler recorded the go-ahead RBI for the victors.

C.C. Sabathia (1-5), whose only victory this season came against the Royals on April 22, dropped another decision after being touched for four runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings for the Indians, who had won seven of their last 10.

Grady Sizemore launched a solo home run, and David Dellucci recorded two of the Tribe's four hits.

Though Sabathia didn't have his best stuff in the early going, he managed to wiggle out of numerous jams with runners in scoring position. The same couldn't be said for the seventh, when the Royals lit up the reigning American League Cy Young winner for four runs.

Trailing 2-0, John Buck started the Royals' turnaround with a leadoff double, and Tony Pena Jr. executed a perfect bunt single down the first base line to put runners on the corners. DeJesus then singled to drive in a run, and right fielder Franklin Gutierrez couldn't come down with Alex Gordon's fly ball to plate another.

Sabathia was pulled in favor of the bullpen, as Masahide Kobayashi and Rafael Perez surrendered consecutive RBI singles to Butler and Teahen, respectively, and Kansas City took a 4-2 edge.

Hochevar held the Tribe hitless through three, but back-to-back singles to start the fourth by Dellucci and Victor Martinez put the youngster in his first jam. After recording an out, Hochevar threw a wild pitch to score Dellucci, which proved to be the only damage in the frame.

In the fifth, Sizemore got his barrel out in front of high Hochevar offering and belted it just over the left field wall for a two-run lead. However, the Indians recorded just one hit the rest of the way.
