National League Game Summary - Cincinnati at Atlanta

Final Score: Cincinnati 0 - Atlanta 2

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Tim Hudson struck out 10 batters while logging his 11th career shutout in Atlanta's 2-0 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-game series.

Hudson (4-2) allowed three hits and didn't walk a batter, and Brian McCann stroked a two-run homer in the fourth inning. The 32-year-old right-hander recorded the 22nd complete game of his career.

"I felt pretty good out there after getting through the first inning," Hudson said. "I was locating my sinker good. It was kind of funny, I didn't throw one changeup from the bullpen warming up for the game. It was a game where I was going to go out there and throw my split. I didn't feel real good about my split going into the game. I really feel good about this game against a pretty good-hitting ball club considering the last few starts I had."

Chipper Jones had a pair of hits and scored for the Braves, who snapped a four-game skid.

Edinson Volquez (4-1) was tagged with the loss despite surrendering just four hits and two runs. He walked two and had nine strikeouts over six innings.

Cincinnati right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. singled in the fourth inning during a 1-for-4 night and remained stuck at 597 career homers as the Reds lost their third straight.

Volquez singled in the third inning and Edwin Encarnacion's base hit leading off the eighth provided the Reds' other hit. Encarnacion went to second on the play thanks to a throwing error from shortstop Yunel Escobar.

Scott Hatteberg and Paul Bako grounded out, sending Encarnacion to third. Pinch-hitter Joey Votto then grounded out to first base to end the threat.

Hudson, who had retired 11 straight batters earlier in the game, retired the side in order in the ninth.

Corey Patterson's fielding error allowed Jones to reach second leading off the Atlanta fourth, and one out later McCann sent a towering fly ball over the wall in right for his sixth homer of the year.
