Cruz finished 3-for-5 for the Astros, who piled up 13 hits in the game.
Runelvys Hernandez started on the hill and allowed one run on four hits in 2 1/3 innings for Houston. Jack Cassel earned the win after allowing two unearned runs in two innings of relief.
B.J. Upton was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI for the Rays.
Jason Hammel started and gave up two runs -- one earned -- on four hits in three innings for Tampa Bay. Scott Dohmann was touched for four runs on four hits in just an inning of relief and was tagged with the loss.
