Richie Robnett homered in the eighth inning and drove in four runs for the Athletics, who amassed 29 hits. Conrad and Murphy also hit home runs.
Jack Hannahan, Carlos Gonzalez and Emil Brown each knocked in two runs for Oakland.
Greg Smith threw the first two shutout innings to pick up the victory, while Barry Zito struggled out of the gate by giving up seven hits and eight runs over two-thirds of an inning in defeat.
John Bowker had three hits and scored three times for the Giants, who also got two RBI from Fred Lewis and Nate Schierholtz.
