Alex Rodriguez, Jesus Montero and Wilson Betemit also homered, while Bobby Abreu and Chris Woodward each had a two-hit day as the Yankees rapped out 14 hits as a team.

Chien-Ming Wang (1-0) tossed a pair of scoreless innings in the start, and seven New York relievers combined to allow just six hits the rest of the way.

Ryan Howard had a pair of hits and knocked in a run for Philadelphia, and Greg Golson had a solo home run.

Phillies starter Adam Eaton was touched up in his two innings, surrendering three earned runs on five hits, including one homer. Chad Durbin and Tom Gordon were each tagged for two runs in relief, allowing one round-tripper apiece.
