Erik Bedard, making his first appearance in a Seattle uniform after being acquired in a trade from Baltimore this offseason, allowed three runs in two innings. Jake Woods (1-0) struck out three in two scoreless innings to pick up the win, and Sean Green worked a perfect ninth inning to nail down the save.
Rich Aurilia went 2-for-2 for the Giants, while Kevin Frandsen, Travis Denker and Rajai Davis each knocked in a run in the loss. Tim Lincecum started and allowed two hits over 2.2 innings, but Randy Messenger (0-1) allowed two runs in the eighth inning and was saddled with the loss.
