Bradenton, FL (Sports Network) - Casey Smith's solo home run off Hector Carrasco in the top of the ninth inning pushed the Philadelphia Phillies past the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-4, in a Grapefruit League contest.
The homer capped off a 3-for-4 afternoon for Smith, who added a double, two runs batted in and scored two runs. Shane Victorino went 2-for-3 for the Phillies, while Gary Knotts (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win.
Jack Wilson was 3-for-3 with a home run and a pair of RBI for the Pirates, while Jose Bautista and Steve Pearce each knocked in a run in the loss. Ian Snell started on the mound for Pittsburgh and worked two scoreless innings, but the Pirates allowed one run in each of the last three innings after jumping out to a 4-2 lead.
