National League Game Summary - Philadelphia at Florida

Final Score: Philadelphia 6 - Florida 12

Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Cody Ross' two-run home run in the eighth capped Florida's offensive attack, as the Marlins crushed the Philadelphia Phillies, 12-6, in the middle contest of a three-game set at Dolphin Stadium.

Jeremy Hermida and Mike Jacobs each knocked in a pair of runs while Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Marlins, who had lost 14 of their last 16 games.

"It was just a good win for us," said Ross. "It was actually a big win for us since we've been struggling. It's nice to get out and jump on top of them first instead of them doing it to us. It's big for us."

Byung-Hyun Kim (8-6) was credited with the win after pitching five innings and giving up four runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Closer Kevin Gregg worked out of a jam in the eighth, recording the final four outs of the game for his 27th save of the season.

Jimmy Rollins went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI for the Phillies, who saw their six-game winning streak come to an end and fell three games behind the NL East-leading Mets.

Phillies starter J.D. Durbin (6-4) had a forgettable outing, giving up five hits and seven runs without recording an out. The right-hander had been 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his three previous road starts.

"Sometimes that's the way it goes," said Phillies manager Charlie Manuel about Durbin. "When they're hitting you, that's what happens. They were hitting him hard and balls were going through. There's was not a whole lot he could do about it. They were swinging the bats good and hitting the ball hard. It's too bad but that's the way it goes."

Trailing 9-4 in the eighth, the Phillies rallied for a pair of runs. Greg Dobbs walked to start the inning before stealing second. Marlins relief pitcher Armando Benitez then got down 3-0 to Jayson Werth before leaving the game with a lower back strain.

Matt Lindstrom relieved Benitez and walked Werth before Chris Coste's groundout moved him to second. Pinch-hitter Shane Victorino's groundout scored Dobbs and Jimmy Rollins followed with a run-scoring single off the leg of Lindstrom to make it 9-6.

However, Gregg retired the dangerous Chase Utley and the Marlins answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Ramirez led off with a double and scored on Hermida's one-out single. Then, with two outs, Ross connected on his eighth home run of the season to make it a six-run game.

Rollins led of the game with his 25th home run of the season, but it was all down hill from there as Florida put up seven runs in the home half of the inning.

Ramirez led off with a single, Durbin hit Dan Uggla and Hermida singled to center to quickly tie the game at 1-1. Miguel Cabrera's single loaded the bases and Jacobs' single put Florida up 2-1.

Durbin then walked Todd Linden to force in a run and Matt Treanor's single made it 4-1 Marlins. Clay Condrey took over for Durbin and promptly uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Jacobs to cross home plate.

Alfredo Amezaga followed with a sacrifice fly and Ramirez's two-out single made it 7-1 Florida. It was the first time in Marlins' history that the first seven batters of the game reached base and scored.

The Phillies responded in the second as Aaron Rowand's home run and RBI singles by Coste and Rollins brought Philadelphia within 7-4.

Florida, however, answered with a pair of runs in the fifth inning on Jacobs' RBI double and pinch-hitter Alejandro De Aza's bases-loaded groundout.
