American League Game Summary - Kansas City at Minnesota

Final Score: Kansas City 4 - Minnesota 6

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Mike Redmond finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs knocked in as Minnesota topped Kansas City, 6-4, in the third installment of a four-game set at the Metrodome.

Luis Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Twins, who have won two straight after dropping the first game of the series in the opener of a day-night doubleheader on Friday. Jason Kubel and Torii Hunter each added an RBI.

Carlos Silva (11-13) got the win by allowing eight hits and three runs over six full frames, fanning four without walking a batter. Joe Nathan worked 1 1/3 scoreless frames with two strikeouts to record his 29th save.

Royals starter Brandon Duckworth (2-4), who was activated from the 15-day disabled list and called up from his rehab assignment in Omaha, took the loss by yielding eight hits and six runs -- five earned -- over 4 1/3 innings.

"I felt like I threw a lot of strikes, and I was going after guys," Duckworth said. "I think the biggest thing was that fifth inning, where one thing led to another, a hit here, a flare there and that's the way it goes."

Alex Gordon hit his 12th homer of the season for the Royals, who have dropped three of four. Shane Costa collected two hits and drove in two, Billy Butler added two hits and scored twice, and Tony Pena added a pair of hits and a run driven in.

A see-saw battle continued into the fifth as Gordon's solo shot put KC ahead by a run, but the Twins struck for four runs in the home half to take the lead for good.

Jason Bartlett was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI double by Hunter. Justin Morneau reached on a fielder's choice then Michael Cuddyer singled before a single by Kubel to plate Morneau gave the Twins a 4-3 edge and chased Duckworth for Neal Musser. He promptly allowed a Redmond double to plate Cuddyer and Kubel for a 6-3 game.

Costa's eighth-inning double drew the Royals within 6-4, but Nathan shut down the visitors from there to preserve the victory.

"It's definitely a grind, but it's equal on both teams and a lot of baseball in a little bit of time," said Twins second baseman Nick Punto. "To win the first two of three is pretty good."

The Twins picked up a run in the second on a Rodriguez double. Kubel scored on the play, after he reached base with a two-out walk.

Kansas City countered in the fourth when Butler doubled with one out and scored on Costa's double. Two batters later, Costa scored on Pena's single for a 2-1 lead.

Rodriguez spurred Minnesota's tying run in the home half, reaching on a two- out single. He went to third on Punto's single then scored on Pena's throwing error when the Royals shortstop attempted to get Punto at first on a wide turn and the ball slipped into right field.
