Cincinnati Reds (74-86) at St. Louis Cardinals (84-76), 7:15 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Recent ace Aaron Harang will take the hill tonight when the Cincinnati Reds resume a three-game weekend series with the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Harang, a 16-game winner in each of the last two seasons, was 4-16 this season after a 3-2 loss at Arizona on September 12 at Arizona.

He has picked up two straight wins since, scattering 14 hits and four runs over 16 innings while downing the Cardinals on September 17 and the Florida Marlins five days later.

Lifetime against St. Louis, Harang is 6-8 in 17 starts with a 4.63 earned run average over 103 innings.

For the Cardinals, journeyman Todd Wellemeyer tries to put the brakes on a late-season skid to close out his best major-league year.

A starter just 11 times in 135 big-league appearances entering 2008, Wellemeyer has made 31 starts this season en route to a career-best 12 wins and has posted a 3.69 ERA in 185 1/3 innings.

Wellemeyer reached the 12-win mark with a 5-3 defeat of Florida on September 6, but is just 1-5 in his previous six outings, including consecutive losses to the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati and Arizona.

Lifetime against the Reds, he has gone 1-3 in 17 games -- three starts -- with a 4.59 ERA over 33 1/3 innings.

On Friday, Troy Glaus' sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth gave the Cardinals a dramatic 7-6 win.

After Javier Valentin tied the game with a two-run homer in the top half, Bill Bray (2-2) struck out Brian Barton to start the home ninth. Felipe Lopez followed with a single through the left side and Mike Lincoln entered to face Albert Pujols, who drew a walk. Lincoln then plunked Ryan Ludwick to load the bases and Glaus hit a sac fly to deep center to plate the game-winning run in Lopez.

Pujols was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI, runs scored and walks, including a two- run home run for the Cardinals, who own a four-game winning streak. Lopez and Adam Kennedy each had three hits with Lopez scoring three runs and Kennedy accounting for two runs scored on a pair of triples. Glaus had two RBI.

Ryan Franklin (6-6) got the win despite allowing Valentin's game-tying home run, and starter Braden Looper went seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out six.

Joey Votto hit a two-run homer, while Jeff Keppinger was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Reds, who have lost three straight.

Starter Bronson Arroyo was roughed up for six runs on 13 hits and a pair of walks in his seven-plus innings. The right-hander struck out five.

St. Louis has won eight of the 13 previous matchups between these NL Central foes this season. The Cardinals took two of three tests from Cincy in the Reds' lone visit to Busch Stadium this year, which took place from April 28-30.
