Houston Astros (81-73) at Pittsburgh Pirates (65-90), 1:35 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Veteran right-hander Roy Oswalt will try to restart a winning streak against the last team he beat when the Houston Astros visit the Pittsburgh Pirates today in the finale of a three-game weekend series at PNC Park.

A 31-year-old Mississippi native, Oswalt had won four straight decisions -- including a 6-0 blanking of the Pirates on September 11 -- before dropping a 5-1 verdict to the Florida Marlins five days later.

In the Pittsburgh win, Oswalt went the full nine-inning distance and allowed three hits while striking out four batters.

The shutout was his third in a row in early September and ran his career mark against the Pirates to 12-6 in 24 games (23 starts) along with a 2.43 earned run average in 163 innings.

Texas-born right-hander Ross Ohlendorf will be making his fourth start for the Pirates today since coming over from the New York Yankees.

Ohlendorf is 0-2 in the three previous National League outings, allowing 21 hits and 11 earned runs in 13 innings. With the Yankees, he had made 25 relief appearances and went 1-1 with a 6.53 ERA in 40 innings.

He faces the Astros for the second time in his Pittsburgh stint, having allowed nine hits and six runs in four innings of a 9-3 loss to Houston on September 9.

On Saturday, Ryan Doumit went 3-for-4, drove in three runs and scored once as the Pirates held on for a 6-4 victory over the Astros to even this series.

Brandon Moss had an RBI triple for the Pirates, who have two wins in the last six games. Andy LaRoche and Nate McLouth both drove in a run in the win.

Jimmy Barthmaier, making his second major league start, lasted three innings for Pittsburgh and was touched for two runs on five hits in the no-decision. Jason Davis (2-4) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief, while Matt Capps earned his 20th save with a scoreless ninth.

Mark Loretta had a pinch-hit RBI single for the Astros, who have won just one in their past seven games. Ty Wigginton and Miguel Tejada both drove in a run in defeat.

Brian Moehler (11-8) took the loss after lasting just an inning and giving up five runs on five hits.

The Astros are just about out of playoff contention, sitting five games behind the New York Mets for the lead in the NL wild-card race. Houston has just eight games remaining.

The Pirates own an 8-7 edge in the season series.
