Tampa Bay Rays (85-55) at Toronto Blue Jays (75-66), 1:07 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays take aim at their eighth straight win this afternoon when they try and complete a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre.

Toronto handed Tampa its first series loss on the road in nearly two months in dramatic fashion on Saturday, as Gregg Zaun's grand slam in the bottom of the 13th inning capped a 7-4 victory.

After the Blue Jays blew a three-run lead in the ninth, the Rays went ahead for the first time in the game in the 13th on Dioner Navarro's two-out, RBI single.

Toronto then showed some moxie, loading the bases on a pair of singles and a walk in the bottom half off Tampa closer Troy Percival. Zaun stepped in with two outs and smashed the first pitch he saw over the right-field wall for the game-winner.

Brian Tallet (1-1) allowed Shawn Camp's inherited run in the 13th but was credited with the win. Zaun, Joe Inglett and Lyle Overbay each had three hits, with Overbay adding two solo homers.

The Blue Jays, who are now a season-high nine games over .500, have not won eight straight since April 14-22, 1999.

Percival (2-1) blew his fourth save of the season for the struggling Rays, who have dropped four of five. Tampa still remains 2 1/2 games ahead of the Red Sox in the AL East after Boston fell to Texas on Saturday.

Rocco Baldelli had two hits, including a pinch-hit, two-run blast in the ninth, while Akinori Iwamura reached base five times with three singles and a pair of walks for the Rays, who have lost the first two games of their nine- game road trip.

Tampa hadn't dropped a series on the road since it was swept in Cleveland from July 10-13.

Toronto starter Shaun Marcum took the unfortunate no-decision, allowing four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in seven scoreless innings. His counterpart, James Shields, served up three runs on six hits and two walks in eight innings for Tampa Bay.

Getting the call for the Jays today will be 26-year-old lefty David Purcey, who is 2-5 with a 6.15 ERA. Purcey did not get a decision on Tuesday against Minnesota, as he allowed five runs and seven hits in three innings of his team's 7-5 win.

Purcey lost to Tampa two starts ago in his only other start against them, surrendering a run and five hits in eight innings of a 1-0 setback.

Tampa, meanwhile, will try to avoid the brooms with righty Matt Garza, who is 11-8 on the year with a 3.64 ERA. Garza was tagged with the loss on Tuesday against the New York Yankees, who managed six runs (four earned) and five hits off of him in five innings.

Garza defeated the Jays the last time he faced them and is 3-2 lifetime against them with a 2.14 ERA in five starts.

Tampa Bay has won 11 of the 17 encounters with the Jays this season, but has split the eight meetings at the Rogers Centre.
