(Sports Network) - Former Chicago prospect Brandon McCarthy makes his third start of 2008 after returning from injury when his Texas Rangers host the Seattle Mariners in the second of three early week games at Rangers Park.

McCarthy, drafted by the White Sox in 2002 and acquired by the Rangers prior to 2007, was limited to just 23 appearances last season and didn't return in 2008 until an Aug. 23 start against the Cleveland Indians.

He gave up three hits and a run over four innings in the debut, then returned to allow six hits and an earned run in six innings against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Aug. 28.

He's winless in four career meetings with the Mariners, allowing an unseemly 20 hits and 11 runs in just 10 2/3 innings, while walking six and striking out eight.

For Seattle, young lefty Ryan Feierabend makes his fourth outing of 2008.

The Cleveland native, who turned 23 on Aug. 22, was tagged for 10 hits and six runs in just three innings of a miserable season debut while dropping an 11-8 verdict at Minnesota on Aug, 17.

He's been significantly better in two stints since, allowing a combined 13 hits and four runs in 12 innings of no-decisions against Oakland and the Twins.

Feierabend has met the Rangers thrice during his brief prior stints in the majors - four games in 2006, 13 games in 2007 - going 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in 17 1/3 innings of work.

On Monday, Adrian Beltre hit for the cycle during a five-hit effort at the plate, driving in three and scoring five runs in Seattle's 12-6 drubbing of Texas.

Beltre became the fourth player in Mariners history to hit for the cycle, the last being John Olerud on June 16, 2001. Arizona's Stephen Drew also hit for the cycle in Arizona's 8-6 win over the Cardinals on Monday.

It was just the second time in major-league history that two cycles have been hit on the same day, as the Tigers' Bobby Veach and the New York Giants' George Burns accomplished the feat on September 17, 1920.

Yuniesky Betancourt, Jamie Burke and Jeremy Reed each had two RBI for the Mariners, who have won a season-high four in a row and seven of eight overall. Betancourt finished with three hits, including two doubles and a solo home run.

The offensive explosion made a winner out of Sean Green (4-4), who relieved Carlos Silva with three scoreless innings. Silva, fresh off being activated from the disabled list, allowed six runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings on the mound.

Luis Mendoza (3-7) was drilled for four runs on five hits and a walk while only recording an out in defeat. Starter Matt Harrison yielded five runs -- four earned -- on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Taylor Teagarden was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma before the game and hit a three-run homer after subbing in for an injured Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who left with a sore elbow in the fifth. Josh Hamilton added a solo shot and Chris Davis had three hits and two RBI for Texas, which has dropped four of five.

Texas has won eight of its 15 matchups with the Mariners this season.
