New York Mets (75-61) at Florida Marlins (69-67), 1:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Failing to hold late leads is becoming too familiar for the Mets. After blowing a three-run lead on Saturday, New York will try to capture the rubber match of its three-game series with the Florida Marlins this afternoon at Dolphin Stadium.

New York has dropped four of its last seven games, with the bullpen getting charged with the loss in its last three setbacks. In Saturday's defeat at the hands of the Marlins, Aaron Heilman walked Josh Willingham with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to force home the winning run in a 4-3 decision.

David Wright had a two-run homer for the Mets, who saw their lead over Philadelphia shrink to one game after the Phillies defeated the Cubs earlier Saturday. Mike Pelfrey, who had won his last three starts and posted back-to- back complete games, allowed two runs on six hits over 6 2/3 frames.

New York will likely need to go to its bullpen at some point today with Pedro Martinez slated to take the hill. Martinez hasn't lasted longer than six innings in 12 of his 15 starts this year and hurled just five innings in an outing versus the Phillies on Tuesday.

The right-hander allowed five runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts in posting his second straight no-decision. Martinez is 4-3 on the year with a 5.22 earned run average.

Martinez, who is pitching to a 6.46 ERA in nine road games this year, has faced the Marlins once this year. He earned a no-decision in that April 1 outing after allowing four runs over just 3 1/3 innings in his first outing of the year in which he left with strained left hamstring that sidelined him until June 3.

The 36-year-old is 6-6 with a 3.08 ERA in 22 career games, 18 of those starts, against the Marlins.

Florida counters with Scott Olsen, who has lost his last four decisions and enters this game with two straight no-decisions. He will be seeking his first win since July 19 against a Mets team that he is 0-2 against this year in three starts. Lifetime versus New York, the lefty is 1-4 with a 4.52 ERA in 11 starts.

Olsen faced Atlanta on Tuesday and gave up four runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings. On the season he is 6-8 with a 4.19 ERA but is pitching to a 2.98 ERA in 15 home starts this year.

In yesterday's game Mike Jacobs finished 3-for-4 with a walk and a home run for Florida, which snapped a two-game skid. Dan Uggla drove in two runs for the Marlins, who trail the front-running Mets by six games in the NL East.

New York has won eight of 14 against the Marlins this year, with the clubs splitting eight games so far in Florida.
