Colorado Rockies (61-71) at San Francisco Giants (58-72), 10:15 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants aren't going anywhere this year, but the team's recent strong play has at least boosted the prospects for 2009.

San Francisco will try to extend its season-best win streak to six straight games when it hosts the first of three consecutive clashes tonight with a Colorado Rockies squad that's on a strong roll of its own right now.

The Giants won for the seventh time in their last eight contests by completing a three-game sweep of National League West cellar-dweller San Diego on Sunday. Bengie Molina fueled San Fran's 8-4 triumph by going 3-for-4 with a home run and matching a career high with five RBI.

Fred Lewis and Randy Winn also had three hits in the win, with Lewis scoring three times on the afternoon. The Giants also received a solid six innings out of starter Kevin Correia in improving to 5-1 on its current nine-game homestand.

Correia (3-7) allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out four to pick up his first win since July 28. Brian Wilson extended his NL-best save total to 35 with a perfect ninth.

The Rockies invade AT&T Park having won seven of their last nine, including the final two tilts of a home series with Cincinnati over the weekend. Colorado claimed Sunday's rubber match in extra innings, with Omar Quintanilla socking a walkoff home run with one out in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Rockies to a thrilling 4-3 decision.

Colorado sent the game into extra frames with a two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth. Matt Holliday singled to lead off the inning and stole both second and third before crossing the plate on a wild pitch to tie the score.

Holliday finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ian Stewart collected three hits for the Rockies.

Ryan Speier (2-1) got the win after holding the Reds scoreless in the top of the 12th. Colorado starter Ubaldo Jimenez went the first six innings and gave up three runs -- two earned -- while striking out six.

The Rockies figure to be tested tonight by San Francisco right-hander Matt Cain, who's compiled an excellent 1.88 earned run average over his last eight starts and hasn't lost in four straight outings.

Cain has two victories and two no-decisions over his unbeaten stretch, and the Giants have won all four of those starts. In his last time out, the former first-round draft pick limited Florida to two runs over 7 2/3 innings despite not factoring in the final outcome of Wednesday's 6-5 triumph.

The 24-year-old also has very good career numbers against Colorado, having amassed a 6-3 record and a 2.89 ERA over 12 starts versus the Rockies. In his last meeting with tonight's foe, Cain fired 5 1/3 shutout innings to lead San Francisco to a 4-0 win at AT&T Park on April 28.

Colorado counters with Jeff Francis, who's yet to win in three starts since spending more than six weeks on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation. Over that span, the left-hander has gone 0-1 with a 4.67 ERA.

Francis wasn't bad in his last start, a no-decision at Los Angeles on Wednesday. The 27-year-old permitted three runs and nine hits over six innings, but only one of those scores was earned and he did not walk a batter.

The native Canadian, who is seeking his first win since June 18, is 6-5 with a 4.92 ERA in 14 lifetime starts against the Giants.

San Francisco holds a 5-4 edge in this year's season series and took two of three encounters with the Rockies at AT&T Park back in April.
