Cleveland Indians (37-46) at Chicago White Sox (47-35), 8:11 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Cliff Lee will attempt to further build his cause for a possible All-Star start when the Cleveland Indians standout takes the mound in tonight's showdown with the host Chicago White Sox.

Lee has been one of the American League's most dominant hurlers this season, as the tough lefty brings a stellar 11-1 record and a 2.34 earned run average through 15 starts into this evening's tilt. Lee is tied with the Angels' Joe Saunders for the AL lead in victories, while his ERA is presently the second- best mark in the Junior Circuit.

The University of Arkansas product produced another win this past Thursday, when Lee limited San Francisco to one run and four hits over eight outstanding innings. He added a career-best 11 strikeouts in the Tribe's 4-1 triumph.

Lee has yet to face the White Sox this season and has had some trouble against Chicago over his career. In 17 lifetime games (15 starts) versus the Pale Hose, the 29-year-old is just 4-5 with a 6.61 ERA.

Not too many pitchers or teams have had much success against the division- leading White Sox at home lately. Chicago recorded its seventh straight win at U.S. Cellular Field and 16th victory in its last 18 home games by topping Cleveland in Monday's opener of this three-game series.

Nick Swisher belted a pair of home runs, including a grand slam in the third inning, as the Sox outslugged the Indians, 9-7, last night.

Jim Thome added a three-run homer and Orlando Cabrera went 2-for-4 with two run scored to help Chicago register its fifth straight win overall. The White Sox extended their division lead to 2 1/2 games over second-place Minnesota, which fell to Detroit on Monday.

Gavin Floyd (9-4) added a career-high 10 strikeouts in his six innings of work for Chicago. The right-hander was touched for four runs on the night, but received plenty of run support from his offense.

Jeremy Sowers (0-4) was far less effective for Cleveland, as the struggling left-hander was pounded for eight runs and six hits while lasting just three innings.

Indians shortstop Jhonny Peralta had a big night in defeat, going 5-for-5 with a solo homer, three doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. However, that still wasn't enough to prevent the Tribe from their third straight loss and sixth setback in their last eight games.

While Lee has been brilliant for Cleveland this year, John Danks has been plenty good as well for the White Sox thus far in 2008. The young southpaw, who gets the assignment for Chicago this evening, currently ranks third in the AL with a 2.62 ERA through 16 starts.

Danks delivered his third straight excellent performance in Thursday's 2-0 road victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 23-year-old yielded just four hits over six shutout innings to improve his season record to 5-4.

Over his last three starts, Danks has surrendered only one run and 14 hits in a span of 18 innings.

Danks limited the Indians to one run and just two hits over 6 2/3 innings during his season debut back on April 3, although he did not receive a decision in a 2-1 Chicago win. The second-year hurler is 1-2 with a 4.44 ERA in five overall starts against Cleveland.

The White Sox have won seven of their 10 2008 encounters with the Indians and swept a three-game set from the Tribe in the Windy City from May 20-22.
